You Can Get Free FairPrice Vouchers Just By Smart Recycling At Void Decks In Singapore

Smart recycling at void decks in Singapore

The new year’s here, and if you’re still setting resolutions, here’s one that’s easy to stick to: start recycling and earn $10 FairPrice vouchers while doing it. Local waste company 800 Super has rolled out 93 smart recycling boxes and 10 food waste smart lockers across Singapore, letting you conveniently dispose of items like cans, clothes, paper, and food scraps right at your void deck. It’s time to declutter your house, save the environment, and get paid in the process.

What are smart recycling boxes & lockers?

Blue recycling bins may be a common sight in Singapore, but unfortunately, the contamination rate of their recyclables has remained at 40% for years. That’s why these smart recycling boxes (SRBs) and food waste smart lockers (FWSLs) are being added to our void decks to help residents properly segregate and dispose of their items.

Those who are spring cleaning the house for CNY will be glad to know that SRBs accept metal, plastic, paper, glass, and even old clothes.

As for food waste, each FWSL has 8 halal lockers and 40 non-halal lockers to collect leftovers and scraps, such as fruit peels, bread, and dairy products.

And based on the weight of the items you recycle, points will be transferred automatically to your account, which can be used to redeem FairPrice e-vouchers.

How do I use the smart bins & lockers?

First, download the Recycling Right app (App Store | Google Play) and register using your phone number. Once you’re in, you can search for all the SRB and FWSL locations islandwide, each with live updates on how full each bin is.

For example, the image above shows that the SRB at Blk 454 Sin Ming Avenue has its paper bin filled, so you don’t have to waste a trip there if you’re planning to recycle some cardboard.

To use an SRB, key in your registered phone number on the touchscreen, choose your type of recyclable, and wait for the door to the corresponding bin to open. Then simply drop your items in, click on “Close the door”, and choose either “Deposit Completed” or “Deposit Continue” if you have more items on hand.

Do note that there’s a 20kg weight limit per deposit every day, and that electronics and bulky items are not accepted.

The process for using an FWSL is pretty similar – key in your registered number, and click on the “Collect new container” option. The door to a locker will open up, so grab the container inside and fill it up with your food waste. Then close the door, move the container into another designated cubby for weighing, and then return it to the same locker.

Just note that there’s a weight limit of 1.5kg per deposit, so portion out your waste if necessary.

The points-by-weight systems for SRBs and FWSLs are as follows:

(SRB) Type of recyclable Weight required for 1 point
