Singapore Flyer’s Christmas & NYE Dinners Are Made For Epic Countdowns Away From The Heat & Crowds

A festive flight to behold

‘Tis the time for festivities and feasts. Most gather with their loved ones for a cosy dinner, or head out to see the Christmas lights set up all over town – but imagine a combination of the two! This year, the Singapore Flyer is rolling out ‘A Classic Christmas in the Air’ – a special Festive Flight in the spirit of the holiday season.

‘A Classic Christmas in the Air’ Festive Flight Special

Cheers to the close of 2017, onboard the Premium Champagne Flight (S$79/pax) or the Singapore Sling Flight (S$69/pax)

Skip ahead of the lines with express boarding perks, and your crew will soon be ushered to a festive capsule which has been decked out in sparkling ornaments – just in time for the Christmas season.

Those onboard this special flight can enjoy a glass of champagne and assorted praline chocolates

If cocktails are more your thing, there’s the Singapore Sling Flight as well, with Singapore’s iconic “national drink” replacing the bubbly on the flight.

We opted for the 5PM Premium Champagne Flight, in order to catch the daytime view of the entire bay area. Other flight times are set for 3PM, 7PM, 8PM and 9PM

You can also take your annual fireworks viewing to the next level with the New Year’s Eve Countdown Champagne Flight (S$109/pax; S$2,500++/private capsule) – where you’ll be able to ring in 2018 from your capsule up in the sky, enjoying a sweet escape from the festive crowd!

Celebratory Premium Sky Dining Flight

Singapore Flyer’s luxurious sky dining experience takes on a Christmas twist, with a limited edition 4-course Premium Sky Dining Festive Menu (from S$339++ for 2 pax) that will be rolled out from 23rd December 2017 to 1st January 2018

The dinner covers two rotations, which means that you’ll have an hour up in the sky. After you’ve finished with the appetiser and soup, the mains and dessert will be served by an in-flight host just before the second rotation takes off.

This flight is perfect for couples looking to celebrate with an intimate dinner, with a table view like none other. For those who fancy a little more privacy, private capsule booking is available from S$2,000++. Flight times are set for 7PM and 8.30PM, with check-ins 30 minutes prior to boarding. We were served the Western menu for our flight – but there is also the option for a Chinese menu, with different offerings.

Appetiser: Prawn Ravioli with Crustacean Bisque Sauce

Covered in a luscious seafood-suffused bisque, this delicate parcel is stuffed with a minced prawn filling, along with wilted spinach and chopped tomato concasse. The sauce was the star here – rich, robust and undeniably sweet.

Soup: Roasted Garlic and Parsnip Soup

This hearty soup shares some comforting similarities to a rustic potato potage. Each spoonful was velvety and full-bodied, with the parsnip’s earthy sweetness playing against the smoky garlic.

Main Course: Beef Wellington

Beef Wellington has always been one of my favourite Christmas dishes. It’s hard to resist a juicy fillet of pink-centred roast beef, all wrapped up in a golden case of buttery puff pastry.

This rendition did not disappoint. Served with crisp asparagus and silky-smooth potato puree, the medium-rare cut was tender, with an intense mushroom duxelles stuffing amping up the flavours in this Christmas classic.

Main Course: Seared Pork Belly with Honey Mustard Sauce

If you’re not a fan of red meat, opt for the Seared Pork Belly instead, served with celeriac mash and brocollini.

Crisp and crunchy on top, layers of melting fat and lean meat alternate in this thick slab of meat. The tangy-sweet honey mustard sauce cuts the fattiness of the pork belly, adding a lift and restoring balance to this rich dish.

Dessert: Champagne Jelly with Lychee

A tall glass of Champagne Jelly with Lychee marks the end to the hearty multi-course affair. This sweet, slightly-boozy dessert is especially refreshing, with plump lychees and mint sprigs.

It’s definitely a whole new experience, dining 165 meters up in the air. With the sky’s sunset colours slowly turning to twilight and the lights of the CBD twinkling beyond the capsule, this is one dining experience I won’t forget.

Singapore Flyer – A dinner in the sky to remember

There’s really nothing quite like dining in a moving glass capsule, with stunning views of the blazing Marina Bay skyline. Apart from new novel experiences with your other half, you can also take to the skies with your family. From now until 1st January 2018, the Festive Family Flight, perfect for a family of two adults and one child aged 3-12 is going for S$78 nett (U.P. S$87 nett).
