Some people spend hours comparing miles credit cards in hopes of finally scoring that elusive business class upgrade, while others simply stick to the standard debit card that comes with their primary bank account. But if you’d rather flex your love for cute characters than your spending power, there’s finally something more up your alley.
Local fintech company Aleta has teamed up with Sanrio to launch a series of Sanrio-themed debit cards in Singapore. Featuring fan-favourite characters, these cards are designed to be collectible, with limited-edition perks thrown in for good measure. Here’s what you need to know before applying for one.
What is Aleta?

The fintech company has launched collectible Visa debit cards that feature limited-edition designs, turning something as mundane as paying for lunch into a small source of joy. At the very least, having an adorable character stare back at you might make the damage to your wallet hurt a little less.
But what makes these cards different is their rarity. Each design is individually serialised and numbered from 0001 to 3000, meaning only 3,000 cards are ever produced for a particular design. Once a drop sells out, it’s retired for good and won’t be reprinted. So if you manage to snag one, you’ll be among just 3,000 people to own that specific design.

To keep things even more exclusive, only 3 designs are released per chapter. For Aleta’s 1st drop, the spotlight is on Cinnamoroll, where you’ll get to choose from Pink Clouds, Rainbow Breeze, or Seaside Holiday.
Currently, only the Pink Clouds design is available. The remaining 2 designs are expected to roll out in July 2026, according to the company’s response to a comment on Instagram.
How can I apply for a Sanrio-themed debit card?

The sign-up process is fairly simple. First, download the Aleta Adventure app (App Store | Google Play), then follow the on-screen instructions to register. Verify your identity via Singpass, browse Card Pals to select your preferred design, and tap on “Apply Now”.
You’ll be prompted to input the name you’d like printed on your card and complete the payment.
Identity verification is usually pretty quick – sometimes taking less than 2 minutes – though it can take up to 48 hours in some cases. After that, you’ll just need to check back in-app to see if your application has been approved.

There’s a Sign Up Bundle ($18) that comes with a set of perks. On top of a collectible physical and virtual debit card, you’ll also get a limited-edition personalised Cinnamoroll bottle, a 5-year annual fee waiver, 3 days of unlimited data via eSIM, 2 tickets to IMBA Theatre, and a one-time 90-day cyber insurance coverage exclusive to the primary cardholder.

What can I do with my debit card?

You’ll be able to apply for supplementary cards ($10) for your loved ones too, and yes, they’ll also get their own Sanrio-themed debit card.
The supplementary cardholder only needs to be 7 years old and above, which points to one of Aleta Adventure’s key goals: making the experience more family-friendly. Parents can manage and track spending across all linked cards from a single account via the app, giving them a clearer view of how money is being used.

You can also top up money into your debit card for everyday purchases, where you’ll earn points every time you spend. Get 100 points for every S$1 spent locally and 200 points for every S$1 spent overseas.
These points can then be redeemed for vouchers as well as exclusive merchandise, adding a little extra incentive every time you tap to pay. There’s even a grand prize up for grabs, where the lucky one will win a trip to Sanrio Puroland in Japan.
What other Sanrio Characters can I look forward to?

There’ll be a total of 3 collections in the Sanrio edition series.
The 2nd drop is set to launch in August 2026, with a hint: “Guess who weighs 3 apples and stands 5 apples tall?” Sanrio fans will instantly recognise this as a nod to Hello Kitty.
The final collection will arrive in November 2026, teased with the line: “Guess whose favourite day is Halloween!” – a clear wink towards Kuromi.

It’s honestly not hard to see the appeal with Sanrio in the mix, and we wouldn’t be surprised if each batch of 3,000 cards gets snapped up pretty quickly once word gets out. Take note that Aleta Adventure is still a relatively new app, so early adopters may encounter the occasional hiccup as the platform continues to grow and iron out any teething issues. Give it a little grace, and this could be one of the cutest additions to your wallet yet.
