Ask any Singaporean, and they’ll have grown up with Popular Bookstore in their lives. Whichever iteration it’s been known as, be it The Popular Book Company, which opened in 1936, or POPULAR, born 1980, you can be sure that it’s seen generations of Singaporeans pass through its doors.
The sad truth is that bookstores are on the decline, and it seems like Popular is feeling that change in the air as well – their VivoCity outlet is closing down on 16th August 2026, while the Jurong Point store will shut on 13th September 2026.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however, because we’re here with the silver lining – for us consumers at least. Both stores will have moving-out sales, already ongoing at VivoCity, and starting from 14th August 2026 at Jurong Point.
Here are some of the best deals we spotted at VivoCity:
First up: the Bose QuietComfort headphones ($199, U.P. $499) are a solid steal. You’ll want to head down ASAP because stock is really low on this item. P.S. These are only available in the Chilled Lilac colourway.
Chat, please find me a friend to share this deal with, because the Sudio B5 Bone Conduction Headphones are buy 1, get 1 free, at $69 for 2. This headset is water-resistant, so you can run in the rain too, and the bone conduction tech ensures you can listen to your music on runs while being aware of your surroundings.
Then, there’s the Sudio N3 Pro wireless earbuds ($49.90, U.P. $99.90), packed with 30 hours of playtime and active noise cancellation. We only saw the black in stock when we were there.
If you’ve a friend who’s getting into e-sports, perhaps the Razer Viper Pro V2 ($139, U.P. $229) is a good gift or lobang to send to them. It’s one of the lightest gaming mice ever, at 74g, with smart tracking that maintains a consistent lift-off distance no matter what surface you use it on.
It’s time to stock up on art supplies at the Popular moving-out sale, with Staedler going on 30% off. Whether you’re looking for their iconic triplus fineliner or pigment brush pens, you’ll find a good selection here.
Honorary mention goes to the Stabilo 18-colour highlighter set, also at 30% off, so you get 16 highlighters for $25.20.
The 36 Classic Colour Pencils set by Faber-Castell is also going at 30% off, so you’ll only have to pay $19.32. We spotted the 60-colour set at 25% off too!
Keep the little ones busy and off the screens with 50% off craft kits that you can easily pack in your bags. We especially love the Astronaut Friend felting kit, which helps to train their fine motor skills.
Make your workspace a happier one with the Sanrio Retro Tappy wireless keyboard and mouse set ($56, U.P. $139). Take your pick of Cinnamoroll, Hello Kitty, or Kuromi designs – and it comes with a mousepad too!
Cop the world’s smallest analogue instant camera, the Polaroid Go Instant Camera Generation 2, at $99 instead of the usual $159 at Popular VivoCity. At time of publication, there were still multiple colourways available.
Pair it with Polaroid film and accessories, now at 20% off, while stocks last.
This one’s for the kid who asks, “Why?” all the time – or you, who has to answer all those questions. The Happy Dragon 100,000 Whys series is now on sale at $29.90 for 5, which works out to be 14% off.
Christmas is still some time away, but it never hurts to stock up on these 4M or KidzLabs educational science games, now at 25% off. Whether your curious kiddo is into making their own cloud light, some archaeology, or creating a tornado, there are kits for all fancies.
Another craft option for little hands is the Amos Glass Deco kit, now going at a whopping 90% off. We’ve done the math for you, so each of these kits is just $2.19. Did someone say it’s time to stock up for the next princess birthday party?
We hear it’s PSLE season yet again, so parents, it’s still not too late to stock up on exam papers. Get them at Popular VivoCity for $12 for a set of 3, across all the topics and papers.
While you’re here, most of the assessment books are being sold at 25% off if you get 3 or more.
Check out the purchase-with-purchase deals at the cashier too! The Mazer Infinite Travel Pocket 65W travel charger is now $24.90 (U.P. $59.90), while the Sudio L3 Super Charger power bank is $27.90 (U.P. $59.90).
We saw staff replenishing the stocks while we were there, but the store got pretty busy. Make a trip down if you’re up for rubbing shoulders with the crowd, and copping some great deals before Popular closes at VivoCity and Jurong Point. It’s worth the effort to go first thing in the morning when the stores open at 11am.
Do note that the above deals are only at the VivoCity outlet.
