Scoot Will Fly Directly To Guiyang From October, Visit The Chiang Mai Of China From Just $158

Scoot’s new direct flights to Guiyang, China

If your China holidays have been stuck in the Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou rotation, here’s one for the next trip. Scoot is launching direct flights from Singapore to Guiyang from 26th October 2026, with one-way Economy Class fares starting from $158.

And if you like your holidays with a little less concrete and a lot more mountains, waterfalls and misty scenery, Guiyang could be right up your alley.

Where is Guiyang located?

Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou province in southwestern China, sitting on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau at around 1,100m above sea level. The city is surrounded by mountains and karst peaks, which gives it a distinctly greener, cooler feel than China’s sprawling megacities. It’s also known as a “Forest City” thanks to all that greenery.

Basically, if your idea of a China holiday is less neon-lit shopping streets and more scenic drives, old towns and mountain views, take note.

The new non-stop Scoot flight from Singapore to Guiyang takes around 4 hours, making it a fairly easy addition to your long-weekend travel list.

What to do in Guiyang

Guiyang isn’t necessarily the first Chinese city that comes to mind when planning a holiday, but that’s part of its appeal. It is tucked into a valley surrounded by mountains and karst formations. Its cooler, mistier climate and abundance of greenery give it a more laid-back feel than the mega-cities we’re more used to visiting in China.

There’s also plenty to see beyond the city itself. Start with Qingyan Ancient Town, one of China’s better-preserved historic towns, where you can spend a few hours wandering through stone lanes, old buildings and traditional shops.

Then there’s Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the largest waterfalls in Asia. It’s a little further out from Guiyang, but well worth making the trip if you’re putting together a Guizhou itinerary.

Back in the city, Jiaxiu Tower is an easy stop, especially in the evening when the historic Ming Dynasty pavilion lights up over the Nanming River.

For something a little more outdoorsy, head to Qianling Mountain Park, a sprawling forested park with hiking trails, a temple and, slightly unexpectedly, plenty of wild monkeys.

And if you’ve got more than a few days, Guiyang makes a convenient base for exploring the rest of Guizhou, including its dramatic karst landscapes and Miao and Dong villages. So while Guiyang itself is worth a couple of days, we’d recommend treating it as the starting point for a bigger Guizhou road trip if you’ve got the time.

More flights to Phuket, Hat Yai, Kota Kinabalu & beyond

Guiyang isn’t the only route getting attention. As part of Scoot’s Northern Winter 2026/2027 schedule, running from 25th October 2026 to 27th March 2027, several existing routes across the Asia-Pacific will see more flights to meet year-end travel demand.

These include:

  • Hat Yai, Thailand: 12 to 14 times weekly
  • Phuket, Thailand: 17 to 21 times weekly
  • Clark, Philippines: 7 to 10 times weekly (from December 2026)
  • Kota Kinabalu: 10 to 13 times weekly (from January 2027)
  • Phu Quoc: daily flights, with a gradual upgrade from the Embraer E190-E2 to the Airbus A320 family
  • Okinawa: 4 to 5 times weekly
  • Tiruchirappalli: 12 to 14 times weekly (from December 2026)

Do keep in mind that flight schedules remain subject to government and regulatory approvals, so it’s worth confirming timings on Scoot’s website closer to your travel dates.

Book those tickets to Guiyang for your next holiday in China

China has no shortage of places to explore, and Guiyang is a good reminder that there’s plenty beyond the usual Beijing-Shanghai-Shenzhen circuit. With direct 4-hour flights from Singapore and fares starting from $158 one way, getting to Guizhou is about to become a lot easier.

If you’re already plotting your next China trip, this could be your sign to swap the skyscrapers for mountain views, ancient towns and a waterfall or two.
