Nirup Island – Managed by ONE°15 Marina
Don’t get us wrong, we love Singapore for the cool things to do every weekend, new hotels, and hip new cafes and restaurants. But sometimes, nature lovers just need a short escape surrounded by the sun, sand, and sea.
If all you need is an island getaway without getting on a flight, Nirup Island is your answer. Managed by ONE°15 Marina, it’s an up-and-coming private island just 20 minutes from Singapore.
Where is Nirup Island?
Looking at photos of Nirup Island may have you wondering, where is this gorgeous island? It’s part of the Riau Islands, an Indonesian province also home to Batam and Bintan, which you’re probably more familiar with.
Due to its secluded nature, this area is home to several luxury resorts such as Bawah Reserve and Telunas Resorts.
How to get to Pulau Nirup?

Believe it or not, this slice of paradise is just 20 minutes away from Singapore. For now, it’s only accessible via private yachts. But once Nirup Island officially opens to guests in the 4th quarter of 2024, you can get onboard a ferry to Batam Centre Ferry Terminal, followed by a ferry to Nirup Island.

With turquoise waters and unblocked views of the surrounding islands in the distance, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped into the Maldives. Guests can explore the waters on kayaks or jet skis that can be rented from the Sea Sports Centre nearby. Prices are available upon enquiry, and you can email cr.ni@one15marina.com for bookings.

Once Nirup Island opens, you can book gorgeous villas managed by Westin, a renowned hospitality brand with atas hotels all around the world. More details will be announced soon, but we’re seeing photos of beautifully designed villas decked in solid wood, rattan, and neutral hues.

If you’re hungry, there’s no need to get on a boat to mainland Batam to get your food cravings sorted. Nirup Island will also be home to Marina Clubhouse Restaurant.

Order up Indonesian specialities like the Sop Buntut (Rp 190,000, ~S$16.27), which is slow-cooked beef tail in traditional Indonesian herbs, accompanied with steamed rice and emping crackers, as well as Rendang Daging (Rp 160,000, ~S$13.70).
Otherwise, there’s also a Western food menu, with all-time favourites such as a Club Sandwich (Rp 145,000, ~S$12.42) and Beef Burger (Rp 190,000, ~S$16.27).
