First Look At Minion Land: Check Out Gru’s House IRL, Minion-Themed Rides & Exclusive Merch At USS

Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore

Banana? Banana! If you’re a fan of the adorable, mischievous Minions from the Despicable Me movies, you’re in for a treat. Minion Land has officially opened at Universal Studios Singapore, bringing you into Gru’s chaotic yet heartwarming world. This brand-new zone is packed with thrilling rides, interactive experiences, and exclusive Minion merch, making it the ultimate stop for families and animation lovers alike.

All you need to know about the new Minion Land at USS

Where is Minion Land located in USS?

Minion Land has taken over the spot where Madagascar Park once stood, and like its predecessor, the rides here are catered more towards young children and families. But hey, don’t let this stop you from visiting the new attraction – it’s hard to outgrow these nostalgic and all-time favourite animated films.

How long would it take to experience Minion Land?

Brand new rides include Buggie Boogie and Silly Swirly – both chill rides suitable for kiddos – while Despicable Me Minion Mayhem turns up the thrill factor. You’ll also find 3 themed souvenir shops, a replica of Gru’s neighbourhood, and a Singapore-exclusive restaurant to fuel up after all the fun.

While the rides aren’t long, the queue is where you’ll be spending most of your time in. To experience all the new rides and attractions Minion Land has to offer, allocate at least 3 hours to this zone.

Do I have to pay extra to enter Minion Land?

A regular Universal Studios Singapore ticket gives you access to Minion Land and the rest of the theme park. Tickets for locals start from $59 for kids aged 4-12 and $76 for adults.

Gru’s Neighbourhood

Meet the villain-turned-father

Step into Gru’s Neighbourhood, where you can explore the home of Gru, Lucy, and their 3 adopted daughters – Margo, Edith, and Agnes.

Whip out your phone and make sure to snap some pictures of you exploring the neighbourhood. It’ll feel as if you’ve been zapped straight into the movie. Keep an eye out for Gru’s house IRL and don’t miss the chance to interact and take plenty of pics with Gru, his adorable daughters, and of course, a whole bunch of Minions during the meet-and-greet sessions too.

Gru’s house isn’t just for show – it’s also home to the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, an exciting ride that’ll turn you into a Minion – because who wouldn’t want to be part of Gru’s mischievous crew? This 4D motion simulator ride takes you on a chaotic adventure inside Gru’s supervillain laboratory. Buckle up for the immersive experience with turns, shakes, and even a little surprise splash.

Super Silly Fun Land

Rides & carnival games galore

Modelled after the iconic amusement park from Despicable Me, Super Silly Fun Land boasts a selection of family-friendly rides, carnival games, and food stalls.

Hop on the Buggie Boogie, the first-of-its-kind Minion dance party-themed carousel. At this spinning kiddy ride, little ones can hop onto colourful Minion-inspired buggies and enjoy a gentle whirl around the track while grooving to remixed tracks by DJ Carl.

At the Silly Swirly, take off in cute bug-like creatures that spin and soar through the sky, offering sweeping views of Super Silly Fun Land and the park’s iconic lagoon.

If you don’t want to be a typical Singaporean and join long queue rides, hit up the carnival games instead to kill time while waiting for the crowds to thin out. There are 2 games to try here: Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa ($5/try) and Space Killer ($8/try).

At Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa, you’ll see a platform with rotating coconuts. Your goal is to get the toy banana in front of you into one of the coconuts by hitting a knob with a mallet. Make sure you hit as hard as you can – I made the mistake of underestimating my strength and ended up watching my banana plop straight onto the floor.

Over at Space Killer, channel your inner Agnes and try to knock down all 6 cans from the platform in one shot using the blaster. Just a heads up – the staff mending the booth will need to prep the pressure in the blasters first, so wait for their cue before taking your shot.

One last stop to visit here is the Super Hungry Food Stand which can only be found in Universal Studios Singapore.

Get meals like Stuart’s Japanese Curry Karage ($19), Unlucky Ducky Creamy Chicken Stew ($19), or the Mini Boss Lunch Box ($16) for kids that will keep you fuelled for more exploration around Minion Land.

End off your meal with desserts like Fluffy’s Rainbow Cheesecake ($15), Banana Cake Pops ($15), and Tim Bear Mousse Cake ($14).

Minion Marketplace

Shop for all things Minion

Minions love collecting random knick-knacks, and so will you at Minion Marketplace, which features 3 connected themed stores packed with exclusive goodies.

Check out that huge jawbreaker machine.

Start at Sweet Surrender, an all-pink shop that looks like a bunch of Minions went wild on a sugar high. Look up and you’ll see Minions stuck to the ceiling with bubble gum. There’s also a giant jawbreaker machine that’s hard to miss.

Here, look forward to all kinds of pink Minion-themed merch, ranging from apparel to plush toys, homeware, and confections. Some items that are too adorable not to get are Bob’s Teddy Bear Bag ($49), Agnes’ Fluffy Unicorn plushie ($45), and Unicorn Earrings ($16).

Next door is the Pop Store, a cool, street-art-inspired shop with a modern vibe. If you’ve ever wanted to dress like a true Minion, this store is where you’ll find the cutest Minion apparel, accessories, and plushies. You can also grab themed headbands ($23) for an IG-worthy theme park outfit.

Pop Mart fans, here’s your chance to grab the blind boxes sold here too. There are many different series and collections to choose from – my personal favourite has to be the ones with Minions dressed up as Zodiac animals. They are priced at $22 per box.

Bob’s Bubble Wand on the right.

One more stop at the Minion Marketplace is the Fun Store where the creative yellow cuties are strewn all over the place, busy with their latest inventions. You’ll find a bunch of exclusive Minion merch here like keychains ($13), Minion plush toys ($40), and even a Bubble Wand ($35) that your kids will surely beg you for.

Is it worth visiting Minion Land?

Personally, despite being catered more towards young children, I still think Minion Land is worth a visit. Rides like Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and Silly Swirly were enjoyable even as an adult, plus the carnival games here are actually winnable. Skip the Buggie Boogie if you aren’t coming with kiddos though.

While the merchandise sold here is similar to the ones at other stores within the park, there are a few gems like the Bubble Wand and Minion plushies that are worth getting. The prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of the product. I was this close to getting a Fluffy Unicorn plush for myself.

For Minion fans, it is definitely worth the hype as there are endless photo ops and fun Minion-themed experiences. And for those who are not, you’ll still enjoy your time here with the rides, games, and food.
