Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar 2024
It’s that time of the year again, when Ramadan bazaars rev up their engines in the lead-up to Hari Raya. This year, the Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar at One Kampong Gelam promises to be the event’s biggest edition ever.
Coined Gemilang Kampong Gelam, where “gemilang” translates to “glorious”, the 2024 bazaar will run from 2nd March to 5th April. With more than 100 F&B and retail vendors, live cooking shows, light projections, and traditional dance performances, this year’s bazaar promises to be a spectacle to look forward to.

It’s not clear which vendors will feature at this year’s Kampong Gelam Bazaar, but with more than 80 F&B stalls in the line-up, there’ll definitely be something for everyone. Hot favourites at last year’s bazaar include the Quesa Birria Tacos ($15) and Birria Quesadilla ($15) at La Birria, loaded with house-braised pulled beef and an addictive gravy.

You might also look forward to the Durian Goreng ($10) from BOGEH SG, best enjoyed fresh from the deep-fryer, alongside their own Butter Beer ($3.50).
Light shows and interactive art for Sultan Mosque’s bicentennial
This year’s Kampong Gelam Bazaar coincides with Sultan Mosque’s 200th year celebration━which promises an even more special, and spectacular, light projection in commemoration of this event.
Spotlighting the national monument’s journey through the past 200 years, these projections will be shone onto the walls of Sultan Mosque each Friday to Sunday of the bazaar. These projections will take place from 7:30pm nightly..
Another cultural highlight at the bazaar will be the unveiling of the “Three Arch Design” art exhibition, which you can find at Sultan Gate Park. These arches tell the lesser known stories in the history of Kampong Gelam, and are accompanied by a web series that visitors can watch online via QR codes on the arches.
Live performances and open air cinema
Shopping, food, and light shows aren’t all that’s going down at the Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar: Malaysian singers Tomok and Alif Satar, plus local talent Taufik Batisah are just some of the acts you can look forward to.
They’ll also be screening local documentaries and web series in Sultan Gate Park every night between 5:30pm and 10pm, where you might bask in the atmosphere with your pick of the 80-plus food stalls in hand. These open air screenings will feature travel, taboo, and horror films.
Break fast for charity at Kampong Gelam’s largest mass iftar

Mark your calendars for 23rd March, 7pm, if you want to take part in a record-setting mass iftar. With an expected 1,500 participants sprawled over 240m of Arab Street, you can join the celebration by purchasing a ticket when tables open for sale to the public.
Besides a part of these proceeds going to Sultan Mosque and other beneficiaries, more than 200 bikers will be riding from Ford Road to Kampong Gelam on 17th and 24th March. The funds raised from the merch sold to bikers will be distributed to the event’s charity partners too.
Celebrate this Ramadan in style at Kampong Gelam Bazaar 2024
It’s not so many days to 2nd March━just 11 days if you’re counting. Send out those jios to celebrate Ramadan with your Muslim and non-Muslim friends alike, at this glorious edition of the Kampong Gelam Bazaar.
