Huggs-Epigram Coffee Bookshop Is Now Open After 5-Month Closure, Has 10% Off All Titles In Jan

2021 saw the closure of Huggs-Epigram Coffee Bookshop, Singapore’s first bookstore exclusively selling books written by Singaporean authors.

Attributing its initial closure to high rental costs and the pandemic, the concept store has now reopened after five long months at its original location at Maxwell Road. Here’s what to look out for at the bookstore slash cafe:

More than 500 titles to browse through


A local independent publisher, Epigram has published several well-known local titles like The Diary of Amos Lee by Adeline Foo and Ministry of Moral Panic by Amanda Lee Koe.

But these aren’t just the only authors you’ll find at Huggs-Epigram. There are over 500 titles to browse through and shop from – all written by Singaporeans. With titles covering children’s books to novels, memoirs and even cookbooks, you’re bound to find something that will tickle your fancy. Plus, you get to #SupportLocal too.

Part bookshop and part cafe, this place also serves up Huggs’ specialty Singapore-style coffee like Kopi O and Kopi C for you to enjoy a cuppa while you read. If you’re feeling peckish, they’ve also got pastries, wraps and muffins on the menu.

Bookworms, you’re in luck. Through the month of January, get 10% off all books instore. If this is your first foray into Singaporean authors, we recommend titles like State of Emergency: A Novel by Jeremy Tiang and Harris bin Potter and the Stoned Philosopher by Suffian Hakim. These two showcase relatable stories set in Singapore’s heartlands.

Do note that the bookstore is now completely cashless and only accepts NETS, credit cards and PayNow.
