This Family-Friendly Attraction At Marina Bay Sands Lets You Create Unique Customised Gifts

Digital Light Canvas & Future World at Marina Bay Sands

If you’re looking to add a dose of light and colour to your holidays, add Digital Light Canvas by teamLab and Future World to your list. With teamLab being a world-renowned international art collective, you can expect your time here to be no less than mesmerising and memorable.

Located inside Marina Bay Sands, Digital Light Canvas’ famous floor panel is made up of individually controlled LEDs, and its stunning light sculpture measures 14m tall with countless full-coloured LEDs. Meanwhile, Future World is located within ArtScience Museum right next door, where you can also find The World of Studio Ghibli.

Digital Light Canvas

Engaging displays & custom gifts

If you’ve taken a close look at Digital Light Canvas before, you’ll notice that the interactive floor monitor showcases a magical world of nature. It even has beautiful flowers which bloom with each step that guests take, and colourful animals wandering around.

What you may not have known is that the flowers and animals gliding around are all artworks by visitors. To add in a masterpiece of your own, pick out a stencil and grab a seat. A wide selection of crayons is provided so get creative and colour away.

Once you’re satisfied with your piece, get it scanned with the help of staff at the scanning station to add your work to the ever-evolving ecosystem. In no time, you’ll be able to see your creation with everyone else’s on the panel.

Sketch Factory – Transform your art into t-shirts, totes & badges

Get the full experience by transforming your digital artwork into unique merch at the Sketch Factory.

The helpful staff advised us to put in a flower and an animal for a more cohesive look.

To get started, head to the ordering counter where you can pick up to 2 of your designs to put on a t-shirt ($20 for child size, $25 for adult size), tote bag ($20), or badge ($4). You’ll get to pick from roughly 8 variations of your piece, so take your time to decide which you like the most.

Their badge-making machine which prints out your design and brings it to life.

After you’ve decided, bring your receipt to the Sketch Factory counter where you can watch the process of your artwork getting printed onto the chosen merch. You may even get to see your piece “swim” towards the customisation counter from the main panel.

Voila, there you have it, your one-of-a-kind merch, perfect for a meaningful Christmas gift. Better yet, there’s no limit to how many you can make – so go ahead and make a whole collection of matching pieces. Be it family, friends, or colleagues, these gifts are ideal for spreading joy and showing off your shared bond in a fun, stylish way.

Future World: Where Art Meets Science

Immersive installations with interactive elements

Why stop there when you can keep the fun going right next door at Future World: Where Art Meets Science? This is where you’ll find even more interactive experiences for all ages. Here are our favourites:

City in a Garden

With 8 installations in this section, the first go-to experience in the City in a Garden zone is the Transcending Boundaries artwork that greets visitors upon entry. It features a breathtaking interactive waterfall that gracefully flows down the wall and spills onto the floor. The water even reacts like regular water, flowing around where you touch or step.

It’s accompanied by an ecosystem of flowers that go through all 4 seasons of the year, so you’ll be able to journey through winter, autumn, spring, and summer all without having to leave the country.

Another fun experience for visitors of all ages is Sliding through the Fruit Field. People coming down from the slide represent sunlight being transferred to the fruit field, causing flowers and fruit to blossom and ripen.

Exploring New Frontiers

Can you spot the TSL plane?

Similar to how the Sketch Factory at Digital Light Canvas works, Future World has a Sketch Flight installation where you can colour in planes, birds, or butterflies that come to life and fly around a magical world of colours. You can even borrow a tablet from the counter to control the flight movements of your creation.

Children and parents can also try out Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Coloured Birds. With paths of varying difficulties, we suggest starting with the blue path that won’t leave you too winded.

Last but not least, end your visit at Crystal Universe, the most popular spot for IG pics. The seemingly endless array of glowing light points creates the illusion of stars moving through space. There’s even a QR code you can scan to then be able to control the lights.
