This New Sci-Fi & Fantasy Exhibition In SG Has 8 Realms To Explore & >300 Paintings Featuring Iconic Universes

The Portals Experience

Sci-fi and fantasy might have started out as niche literary genres, but they’ve long since become pop culture staples. From blockbuster hits like The Martian to the National Library Board’s (NLB) Sci-Fi Pop-up Library and popular tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, it’s safe to say we’re all a little obsessed with escaping into other worlds every now and then.

And coincidentally, The Imaginariad, the same folks that teamed up with NLB, are now bringing us The Portals Experience, a new immersive fantasy and sci-fi-themed exhibition in Singapore. Tickets are already on sale, so here’s what you can expect before stepping through the metaphorical portal yourself.

What is The Portals Experience?

The exhibition, running from 1st June to 2nd September 2026, features one of the world’s largest collections of fantasy and sci-fi memorabilia, ranging from art to books and miniatures. What was once confined to the pages of books and tabletop role-playing games is now brought to life through installations, artworks, and even intricate diorama displays here.

You’ll get to explore 8 themed zones spread across a 13,000sqft space, and each one is designed to transport you to fantasy kingdoms and futuristic sci-fi worlds. So, for SFF (science fiction and fantasy) fans and RPG (role-playing game) lovers especially, this is the closest thing to conquering your own real-life quest.

Handmade installations of larger-than-life sets

As you explore the 8 universes, you might notice that the exhibition is “100% screen free”, with the team focusing instead on hand-crafted installations that let you fully immerse yourself in the larger-than-life sets. You won’t find VR or digital screens either; The Portals Experience leans into tangible storytelling, so everything you see is IRL.

Dioramas featuring hand-painted miniatures

One of the most impressive highlights of the exhibition has to be its 3 dioramas, filled with over 10,000 miniature figures. Each scene is meant to depict a different world, from the fictional Atlantis to a fantasy battlefield and a sci-fi future.

The level of detail is so intricate that you’ll likely find yourself leaning in for a closer look and maybe wishing you brought a magnifying glass along.

Merchandise such as prints & postcard sets

And as with most exhibitions, you probably won’t be leaving empty-handed. Expect exclusive merchandise on site, such as signed prints, postcard sets, and t-shirts. There’ll also be a special Future Singapore 2126 merch line by Singapore-based artist Kristal Melson, reimagining familiar local icons through a futuristic lens.

How much are tickets?

Tickets start from $26/adult, $17/child aged 4 to 7, $22 for seniors and students, and $40/VIP.

VIP ticket holders will get to enjoy a few perks, such as skipping the queue on arrival and receiving a goodie bag containing merch.
