NSK Trade City, not to be mistaken for its counterpart NSK Grocer, is a Malaysian supermarket chain known for wholesale-style grocery shopping and lower prices. From fresh produce to cleaning supplies, some shoppers have likened it to Sheng Siong, thanks to its wide range of wallet-friendly groceries and products.

When you enter, you’ll be greeted with mountains of groceries laid out and stacks of cartons – exactly what you’d expect from a no-frills wholesale mart. Get a pack of 30 eggs for just RM10.60 (~S$3.36), or stock up on 100PLUS for your post-workout refresher at RM34.99 (~S$11.10) for a carton of 28 cans.

If you are entering JB from Tuas Checkpoint, head over to the Nusajaya outlet, located in Sunway Big Box. It’s about 30 minutes away from the checkpoint by car. While you’re there, check out the mall’s many other offerings as well, such as the bookstore with a 7.5m-tall display.

This outlet is also about a 20-minute drive from LEGOLAND Malaysia, making it easy to drop by for some last-minute grocery shopping after a day of thrills.

The Pandan JB outlet is 40 minutes away from Woodlands Checkpoint by car. It’s also a stone’s throw away from Mount Austin, which means you can swing by to get your groceries after a day trip exploring the neighbourhood.

The Skudai outlet is also a 40-minute drive away from Woodlands Checkpoint, and you can find shopping malls like Paradigm Mall and Sutera Mall close by. Add this outlet to your itinerary if you just want to shop till you drop.

Another alternative slightly further from the checkpoint is the Ulu Tiram outlet, which is about an hour away from Woodlands Checkpoint by car. If you’re going on a Friday, take the chance to visit the Puteri Wangsa Friday Night Market too, just a 20-minute drive away from the outlet.

Maximise your savings by signing up as a member on the NSK Trade City app (App Store | Google Play). Membership privileges include member-exclusive vouchers and membership points, and you can activate these privileges for just RM10/year (~S$3.17).

Do note that online payment to activate your membership is currently unavailable as of writing, so you need to head over to the Customer Service Desks at any NSK Trade City outlet to complete the activation process. Currently, points that you have earned can only be redeemed if you have a local Malaysian number.

If you’re shopping for a variety of fresh products, there are separate counters for weighing and labelling your fruits, vegetables and other items, so do take note that this may take extra time for your grocery run.
