Lemon8 is now linked to TikTok
2025 is only 5 months old, and already the social media sphere has been rife with upheaval: first came the nationwide ban in the USA on 19th January, which saw a last-minute reprieve – for now. This latest development is also TikTok-centred, but we, here in Singapore, will be directly affected if we don’t take the necessary steps.
So here’s the goss – Lemon8 is now powered by TikTok, and if you don’t link your accounts across the 2 platforms, your Lemon8 profile will be deleted.
What is Lemon8?

First launched in Japan back in 2020 as Sharee, Lemon8 is a Singaporean company-owned social media platform that’s modelled after Pinterest and Xiaohongshu, AKA RedNote. Here’s the kicker: the Singaporean company, Heliophelia Pte Ltd, has been linked to the Chinese internet giant ByteDance – the parent company of TikTok.
Lemon8 vs TikTok: What’s the difference?
While both are social media platforms, the focus of Lemon8 is on photos and short-form videos in a more Pinterest-style board format. In contrast, TikTok content is typically presented in the form of 16:9 videos which you scroll through vertically.
Where Lemon8 tends towards a more fashion, beauty, food, travel, and home-centric focus, the spectrum of TikTok content literally runs the gamut, leading to its appeal to audiences of all ages, genders, and preferences.
What’s happening to Lemon8?
@the_uncle_chan [Changes to Lemon8 app] Big changes coming to Lemon8 as the app will have a unified login with TikTok from 20th November. Change 1: Merging of TikTok and Lemon8 usernames Change 2: No more DMs Change 3: No more private posts One of the biggest groups I see affected by this will be financial advisors who’ve been making vague posts about passive income to bait viewers into DM-ing them. They’ll need to find a new meta now #lemon8 #tiktok #LearnOnTikTok #socialmedia
To be fair, Lemon8’s integration with TikTok dates back to 20th November 2024, which allowed Lemon8 users to log into using their TikTok accounts. However, there’s now a deadline involved, requiring all Lemon8 users to take action before 20th May 2025, or risk losing all their data on Lemon8.

Link your Lemon8 account to TikTok before 20th May 2025
While we won’t be suffering the same kind of anxiety that the American TikTok community is facing, as the 19th June deadline draws near, it’s never fun to have an entire social media account wiped. There’s nothing complicated about linking your Lemon8 account to TikTok, so do that stat.
