Woman Burns Her Pot While Following Online Cooking Tips, Netizens Share Their Own Kitchen Fails

Woman follows online cooking tip, but burns her pot in the end

Cooking is an essential life skill that everyone should know. But of course, no one is born a master chef. It takes practice and experiments to become savvy in the kitchen.

If you’re learning the culinary arts, the Internet is a wonderful place to pick up tips. That said, choose your information source and read the instructions carefully, or the results could be…less than appetizing. This woman with a burned pot following a failed cooking attempt can attest to that.

Here’s how her story has prompted other netizens to share their own kitchen fails.

Yesterday, a Facebook user named Nguyễn Ngọc Quỳnh Như took to Cháo Hành Miễn Phí – a Facebook group where people post cute stories – to share the rather disastrous aftermath of her mother’s failed cooking attempt.

According to Quỳnh Như, her mother learned a tip from TikTok that cooking sweet potatoes with a spoon would prevent them from burning. She tried to follow that instruction.

The original poster then shared a photo of the result. Indeed, the sweet potatoes didn’t burn.

The pot and the spoon, however, did.

Netizens shared their own burned food

Quỳnh Như’s story might be a common accident that any household can run into, but it is precisely for that reason that it resounded with so many others. Just less than a day since the story was published, it’s garnered tens of thousands of reactions.

Many people also shared their own kitchen fails. Netizen Loan My, for instance, shared a picture of what looks like some overly fried cakes in a frying pan. We’re not gonna be picky here – the cakes look pretty edible to us, charred though they might be.

The same cannot be said for commenter Huyền Hoàng’s pot of what was supposed to be braised pork. All that was left after she forgot it for two hours on the stove was a burned jumble dotted with some quail eggs.

Some helpful netizens also pointed out the mistake OP’s mom made. According to them, the proper way to execute this cooking method is to arrange not one, but several spoons, in the pot, so that the sweet potatoes never touch the pot. It would seem the original tip the OP’s mom learned from wasn’t clear on this crucial bit of information.

Replying to these, Quỳnh Như said she’d relayed the information to her mother. She also noted that the sweet potatoes actually turned out well.

Hopefully they will be even better next time, now that she’s learned from the failed attempt.

Don’t be afraid to fail

It’s true that failing is never a desirable result, but looking from a more positive angle, it’s just a part of the learning experience.

In the end, it doesn’t matter that we fail. What’s important is that we pick up new skills in the process to better ourselves.
