JaKo Restaurant in Đà Nẵng
Several months after being ravaged by a heavy wave of COVID-19 and multiple consecutive typhoons, Đà Nẵng is now on track to return to its former self as the beautiful city we all know and love, and new businesses are starting to pop up to cater to the needs of local residents and tourists alike.
And when it comes to the city’s food and drinks scene, JaKo is the newest kid in town. Opened just this week, this hybrid restaurant & café boasts an impressive Asian-inspired décor and plenty of food options to sink your teeth into.
Décor inspired by several Asian countries
As its name implies, JaKo has a décor mainly inspired by Japan and Korea, with a touch of Hội An for some local flavor. Right past the entrance, you’ll find yourself in a warmly lit room with tables for seating on both sides. Here, the walls are decorated with paintings of feudal Korea, similar to what you often see in historical K-dramas.

This initial room opens into a courtyard, and here, you’ll no doubt find your attention drawn to a two-story Japanese-style building with bright red columns and railings decorated by hanging lanterns.
The building is surrounded by plenty of plants and a koi fish pond, creating a pleasant garden vibe.
At the far end of the yard is another building decorated in traditional Vietnamese style with simple wooden columns, ceramic products displayed on shelves, and bamboo lamps hanging from above.

Meanwhile, on the second floor are more dining tables set in a bright, clean space dotted with more plants.

Expansive food and drink menu

In terms of food, JaKo boasts an expansive menu of dishes from different cuisines. We opted for a sushi set (VND195,000, ~USD8.41) to go with the Japanese décor, which features 10 different types of sushi including salmon, squid, shrimp, and more. The sushi came fresh and was surprisingly filling, served with wasabi and beni shōga (pickled ginger) in true Japanese fashion.

If you’re looking for an Asian take on Western classics, try the steak (VND185,000, ~USD7.98), pizza (from VND119,000, ~USD8.58), or spaghetti (from VND79,000, ~USD3.41). Alternatively, if you come in a big group, there are also hotpot (VND479,000, ~USD20.66) options.

If you come early in the morning, there are several breakfast meals to choose from, such as omelette (VND39,000, ~USD1.68) and fried eggs with sausages (VND65,000, ~USD2.81).
Alternatively, for those who just want to stop by in the afternoon to grab some refreshments, JaKo also has several options for coffee, juices, and smoothies offered at reasonable prices from VND30,000 to VND50,000 (~USD1.30-USD2.16). The Saigon-style milk coffee (VND30,000, ~USD1.30) we had came with a generous amount of coffee and had a satisfyingly strong taste.
