Funeral Van Carries Supplies Into Covid-19 Zone, Netizens Don’t Know Whether To Laugh Or Cry

Funeral van in Saigon carries fruits into Covid-19 neighborhood

For at least once in our lives, we have to attend the funerals of our acquaintances and relatives.

The sight of a funeral van carrying a casket to the funeral home, followed by mourning family members of the deceased one, usually moves many of us to tears and reminds us of how fleeting life is.

However, that’s not always the case.

For the funeral van in this story, it did more than just reminding people about the preciousness of life. Instead of transporting a casket, it carried tons of dragon fruits and thus shocked many people.

Here’s how this twist blew everyone’s mind.

On 4th August, a clip surfaced on TikTok @hoasapbaochau, showcasing a funeral van coming into a quarantined neighborhood in My Tho. The video was captioned, “Optimize all means of transportation to carry supplies to the quarantined residents.”

A funeral van symbolizes death, and the presence of it inside a quarantined neighborhood amid the height of the Covid-19 pandemic sparked tremendous anxiety.

At first glance, many residents must have thought that someone in the area had just passed away and that was why a funeral van was there.

Thankfully, that was not the case.

Inside the van were tons of dragon fruits that were donated to the quarantined residents.

That was quite a twist.

Netizens are not sure whether to laugh or cry

Since this clip went live, it has garnered over 800,000 views and 81,000 likes at the time of writing. Many netizens are impressed with the idea of using a funeral van to carry fruits.

“For the first time in my life, I’ve seen a funeral van carrying hope and joy instead of grief,” TikTok user Mr huan pointed out something that we can agree with.

“If I were here, I’d weep and laugh at the same time,” TikTok user titoker.batdacdi commented.

Necessity is the mother of invention

As a famous saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” That can’t be any truer for this story.

From taxis being turned into ambulances to carry Covid-19 patients to a funeral van transporting fruits to quarantined residents, we’re seeing plenty of adaptive initiatives coming up these days.

As long as they help alleviate the burdens for frontline workers and affected people, they should be encouraged and amplified.
