COVID-19 in Vietnam, 27th March 2020 update

Over the past couple of weeks, the Vietnamese government has implemented multiple regulations to contain the spread of COVID-19. It seems these efforts are yielding some results, as there have only been 5 new reported cases since our last update yesterday.

Meanwhile, 3 COVID-19 patients have now been confirmed to be free of the virus after testing negative 3 times in a row.

3 COVID-19 patients who have been receiving treatment at the Đà Nẵng Hospital, including 2 British men and a Vietnamese woman, have now been confirmed to be free of the virus after their tests came back negative 3 times in a row.

The two foreigners traveled from London to Hanoi on 2nd March on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN0054. At least 16 people on that flight have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Vietnamese woman, on the other hand, is a saleswoman at an electronics store in Hải Châu District, Đà Nẵng. She had contact with the two British men on 4th March, when they visited the store as customers. She tested positive on 10th March.

The new recoveries go on to show that the COVID-19 pandemic, while concerning, is not uncontrollable. As long as we do our part by following the government’s guidelines, avoid public gatherings, and practice good hygiene, Vietnam will surely get through this crisis.
