Vietnam expects to reopen international tourism on 15th March
Vietnam has been struggling to harness the pandemic since late 2019. Earlier this year, several international flight routes have been reconnected. Yet tourism is still on a hiatus.
The good news is that the wait will finally be over as the government intends to fully reopen international tourism on 15th March.
Tourist activities come back next month
Tourism is one of the most affected industries in Vietnam in the pandemic. In fact, it has been postponed for about 20 months.
As the pandemic situation has now been under control, on 16th February 2022, the government announced their plan to relaunch tourist activities on 15th March 2022.

Previously, the Vietnamese government used to provide visa exemptions for tourists from around 100 countries and territories, but these visa exemptions have been on hold due to the border shutdown to tourists.
Because Vietnam is recovering from the pandemic, these visa exemptions are likely to be effective again soon.
New regulations make way for tourism to reopen
The Vietnamese government has also loosened some regulations for this official tourism relaunch. Now, tourists can enter Vietnam with no need to register for a package tour.
PC Covid is one of the common health declaration and location tracking apps that tourists are required to install on their phones when visiting Vietnam. You can download this app from both the Google Play Store and Apple Store.

However, tourists are still supposed to abide by the disease preventive regulations of the local authorities. This means that to visit, you should be fully vaccinated, and acquire a negative testing certificate (24 hours prior to arrival for rapid antigen swab tests and 72 hours prior to arrival for RT-PCR tests).
Moreover, you should download an official health declaration and location tracking app to your phones, and keep the app active during your time in Vietnam.
Specific requirements are applied on your arrival
There are also some regulations for tourists when they arrive in Vietnam.
If you come to Vietnam by plane, you should isolate yourself at home within 24 hours and self-monitor your health in the next 14 days. Those with suspected symptoms will be tested again on arrival. If entering Vietnam on land, you will receive the test at the border gates.
Despite negative test results, tourists are still required to self-isolate within 24 hours or retake the test if needed.

Apart from that, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also suggests that foreign tourists should buy insurance at the price of USD30 per person to enjoy the sum of USD10,000 in medical coverage in case they have to receive Covid-19 treatment in Vietnam.
Get ready to visit Vietnam soon
As the pandemic situation in Vietnam has been very much improved, tourist activities will be back from 15th March this year.
