1. The 1920’s Lounge – enjoy cocktails and live music performances

The first bar in Da Nang we want to introduce you to is The 1920’s Lounge. A cozy space with raw brick walls and wooden floor lit by golden light makes it the perfect place to sit back on a comfy couch and enjoy live music performances and delicious cocktails – both of which the lounge offers in abundance.

The music ranges across jazz, acoustic pieces, and ballads, performed by different bands on every day of the week.

For drinks, the menu offers many options for specialty cocktails. Try the Canh Chua (VND210,000, ~USD8.98), which draws inspiration from a Vietnamese soup featuring pineapple, tomato, and coriander. The drink combines these ingredients with vodka and Cointreau for a pleasant sip.
Address: 53 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang
Opening hours: 6.30pm-1.30am, Daily

2. On The Radio Bar – an electrifying stage to go wild at
Image credit: On The Radio Bar
From the same owner as The 1920’s comes On The Radio – another big name in Da Nang’s nightlife scene. Unlike its more relaxing cousin venue, however, Radio – as locals like to call it – is all about providing an exciting nightlife experience. Expect a large stage with electrifying music from live bands or DJs, and lots of dancing and laughing.

The menu also has lots of options to cater to big groups coming to have fun together. You can go for a beer tower combo (VND1,020,000, ~USD59.99) that also comes with shisha and a tray of mixed fruits, or a 1-litre cocktail jug (VND520,000, ~USD30.59) to refresh yourself between all the dancing and singing.

3. New Phương Đông – one of the oldest clubs in Da Nang

Established nearly 30 years ago, New Phương Đông is touted as one of the oldest and largest nightclubs in Vietnam. For well over a generation, this has been the go-to place for Da Nang’s club-goers. Massive crowds pack the spacious venue on a daily basis to go absolutely wild around its central stage, which comes equipped with spectacular lighting and water spray effects.

Naturally, live music from local bands and DJs is a given. On occasions, though, the nightclub also hosts special events featuring celebrities.

Drinks here come in sets, with different options for different group sizes and budgets. A basic set of 10 cans of Budweiser beer and a bowl of mixed fruits is VND1,500,000 (~USD64.11), whereas a premium set featuring a bottle of the well-loved cognac Martell Gordon Bleu, water, soft drinks, shisha, and fruits can go as high as VND10,750,000 (~USD459.46). Note that if you order after 11pm, an extra charge of 10% will be applied.

4. LIBRE Bar – custom-made cocktails and friendly staff

Music clubs are great for just turning off your brain and unwinding, but they are admittedly not the ideal place to enjoy a conversation with friends. For that, we’d recommend LIBRE Bar.

The small space with most seats lined alongside the long stone counter on one side of the room creates an intimate atmosphere. Soft jazz music played in the background adds to the vibe nicely.

In terms of drinks, LIBRE does have a sample menu featuring classic cocktails such as Long Island or Bloody Mary (VND180,000, ~USD7.69). But where the bar truly shines is custom-made cocktails, tailored to your personal tastes. The staff are attentive and friendly, so don’t be shy to let them know what you want.
Address: 125a Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang

5. Shamrock Sports Bar – watch live sports events
Sports fans who want a change of pace from watching a hyped football match from the comfort of your couch, hit up Shamrock Sports Bar to join like-minded spirits as you cheer for your favorite team.
The space has a pretty standard design: a simple room with a bar counter. But most of the time, your attention will be focused on one of the many TVs hung around, which regularly show live broadcasts of sports events, from Premier League football matches to baseball showdowns. Enjoy them over draught beer straight from the tap, which goes for a mere VND30,000 (~USD1.28) a glass.

There’s also a pool competition every Thursday. Each contestant chips in VND50,000 (~USD2.14) to join, and the winner goes home with the entire, eeehhh… pool.
Address: 11 An Thuong 32 Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang

6. The Craftsman – speakeasy bar in a convenient location
Image credit: The Craftsman Cocktail Bar
Just a few minutes’ walk from the beach is The Craftsman, a destination we keep finding ourselves coming back to. Located on the outskirts of the An Thuong area – aka Da Nang’s bar streets – the humble one-room bar is in the perfect spot to be accessible yet not too busy.

Theme-wise, The Craftsman nails the speakeasy vibe pretty well. Comfy sofas, dimly lit lights, and classical music posters on the walls create a classy yet homey vibe. There’s also outdoor seating if you want some fresh air.

The drinks here, true to the name Craftsman, are crafted with care. We always go for a simple Whisky Sour (VND130,000, ~USD5.55) – whisky mixed with bitters, egg white, and some added citrus taste – and have never been let down by the quality. Of course, feel free to try out their many signature cocktails (VND130,000-VND200,000, ~USD5.55-USD8.53) as well.
Address: 48 Phan Tu Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang

7. Esco Beach Bar – beachside seating and flame dance shows

If “a few minutes’ walk from the beach” is still not beach-y enough for you, Esco Bar – which opens straight out to Da Nang’s famed My Khe Beach – might be what you seek.

Take a seat in one of the couches, or lean back on a beach chair, to take in the fresh breeze with a hint of salt and enjoy direct views of the ocean and the Son Tra Peninsula with its iconic Guanyin statue in the distance. During weekends, there are also flame dance shows in the evening.

Drinks here are reasonably priced for such a prime location, featuring a large variety of both wine and liqueur. Perhaps a glass of Malibu (VND85,000, ~USD3.63) with its light hint of coconut flavors can complete your summer-at-the-beach theme.

There’s also no shortage of food options, ranging from Vietnamese phở (VND120,000, ~USD5.13) to rib-eye steaks (VND360,000, ~USD15.38) and pizzas (VND170,000-VND250,000, ~USD7.26-USD10.68).

8. Horizon Bar – rooftop views down to the entire city
Horizon Bar is another bar with ocean views, but from another perspective. Perched on the 36th floor of the beachside Fourpoint Hotel, the bar features an indoor space with tall glass windows, as well as an outdoor swimming pool equipped with booths that guests can sit in.
Naturally, the elevated position means you can take in a panoramic view of the entirety of Da Nang: the ocean and mountains on one side, the city with its buildings and skyscrapers on another. Time your visit at sunset to enjoy a particularly beautiful sight.

In terms of drinks, on top of the usual cocktails and liqueur, you might also want to try out craft beer (from VND75,000, ~USD3.20) from 7 Bridges – a popular local brewery. There are different options with different levels of alcohol and tartness or sweetness to cater to your tastes.
