I love the food at IKEA. The meatballs are always consistently good and the prices are very affordable. I also like the organised concept of how everyone goes through this "conveyer belt/American school cafeteria" system to get their food, it's really efficient!

The Almond butterscotch cake is my personal favourite dessert and it's times like this I really do not like sharing my food because I want to devour it all by myself. Their 50¢ ice cream is also a must every time I visit IKEA. I really love the creamy texture of it and it's such a cheap thrill putting the token in the machine and watching it dispense your ice-cream.

Affordable, satisfying food

To me, it was always the meatballs. Always.

I don't know why, but something about the meatballs at IKEA always draws me back to the place again and again, and I find myself having frequent cravings for them. With their brown sauce, they are absolutely tasty, although the standards have dropped over the years. Also, they serve it with Lingonberry jam. For someone who hates jam, I must say I don't mind dipping my meatballs in it.

You should also not miss out on the chicken wings, another hot favourite. The wings are crispy and always hot. Their pancakes are pretty good as well. Their fries and calamari, not so. The dessert is normal, nothing much to boast about.

The selection of food may be limited but when you have a few favourites, it's always worth patronising again. Also, all these come at very affordable prices! IKEA is definitely the place to have a satisfying and filling meal without burning a hole in your wallet.

Ikea food is definitely a cheap must try!!!

Food wise: Meatballs with potato and jam is a must! The other food that I usually have is their salmon slab and chicken leg. Feel free to ask for more greens or in the case of meatballs more jam and potato, it comes at no cost.

My only concern for the food is that the food options seemed to have decreased by quite abit when I went there in December 2013. Very few selection of cakes were available so dessert was a big disappointment. In addition, there was very limited selections of main courses available as well, I remember they took away my chicken leg meal. Besides the usual Muslim food although they were OOS on Nasi lemak, the only western meal they seemed to have was the turkey Christmas special, and salmon set.

I have a sneaking suspicion that probably 60% of IKEA customers actually go to IKEA just for their food - and I don't blame them. IKEA offers a range of western food, such as pasta and cream soups as well as Halal options for those who prefer asian food. My favourite on their menu however, has got to be their fried chicken! IKEA's fried chicken has not been bested yet in my heart by any other place, which certainly says something about their delicious fried poultry goodness!

My only complaint would be that the menu variety is too limited and I always find myself going for the same few meals every time I go there for a meal. Even to the most ardent fan, constantly having to face the same plate of spaghetti does get a bit boring after a while. The prices are economical, especially given the fact that most western food outlets tend to be on the pricier side. However, my advice would be to forgo the cakes in the fridge because they tend to be rather overpriced and not worth the money. If you are eating out with the family, the fried chicken is also a sure-fire way to satiate the kiddies before heading out into the wilderness of sofas and bedspreads.

Also, to all those penny-pinching individuals out there, remember to take your plastic IKEA cup for extra refills before you head out for the actual furniture browsing. You never know if you need hydration after getting lost among all the obscure Swedish furniture there!

For the prices they offer, the quality of food at ikea is incredible. The meatballs there are pretty well-known and I can tell you for a fact that they are the best meatballs I've ever tried! They're extremely affordable and they come in a plate of 8, which can easily fill you after walking around ikea for hours.

The desserts there cost only about $2-$3. This would normally indicate the lack of quality, but the pies are there simply delicious!

The lines there stretch pretty far and turn customers away. However, all you're doing basically is just picking things up along the way and filling them into your tray. So the line moves along pretty quickly. Although finding a seat can be a quite a hassle considering how many people go there. I suggest finding a seat before you buy your food. It's much easier walking around without a tray in your hands.

IKEA is unfortunately very far away from my house so i can only make it a point to visit it only once every 2-3 months to have my dosage of IKEA meatballs and also patronize the creative and beautiful furniture.

IKEA food area is an open concept area where customers will queue for their food and its self-serviced. What i find the most interestng is that their seats, their tables, their cutlery, trays are all actually IKEA products and that you can find it in their stores if you like it. Real product placement!

Back to the food, i think the IKEA meatballs changed, it was smaller and not as tasteful as before, sadly. I heard they changed the supplier of the meatballs... Nonetheless i still like the IKEA Chicken wings! It still remains the best i have ever tried, huge, crispy, flavourful!

I wont recommend a special trip to IKEA to taste their food unless you are in the vicinity or shopping for furniture. Note though that queues are horribly long even at 2pm!

IKEA meatball is a mixture of pork and beef, gently spiced to flavour and each of them is tangy for every bite. The gravy is smooth and the chunks of boiled potato increase the fullness after meal. I love the combination of the grape jam and gravy with the meatballs. Heavenly taste! No wonder so many people are obsessed of IKEA meatballs.

Fried chicken wings is another signature dish in IKEA. However, I'm not a fan of it as it is cold for the most of the time I'm having it. Probably left outside for too long if not the piping hot wings will grab hold of everyone's heart. Different main course are out on every week and fresh desserts are in the fridge for everyday. If only the desserts taste lighter, I will be able to finish off the whole slice. I can't say the food are healthier than the other western food, but it is within affordable price range and the dining experience aren't that bad either. It is a place for everyone indeed.

When I think of IKEA, apart from their awesome furniture and home ware, I love their food.

IKEA has always been famous for their $2 hotdog bun. In recent times, their meatballs and fried chicken wings have caught on. My personal favourite would be their meatballs. Tuesdays are their Meatball day and so they are discount on meatball prices. They go by 6, 8 or 12 meatballs if I’m wrong. The curry sauce they give goes well with their meatballs. They also have jam to go along with the meatballs which is awesome!

Apart from their cafeteria, IKEA’s snack bar offers the hotdogs and ice-cream they are famous for. IKEA is very customer-orientated with regard to their DIY furniture to reduce costs. Hence with regards to food, you get your own cone for ice-cream and get to make your own ice cream by proceeding to the ice-cream machine. Same for getting your own soft drinks and also adding of sauces for your hotdog buns.

This allows customers to personalize their own food with regards to their preferences. For example, you could add the sauce for your hotdog bun by mixing the sauces the way you want instead of going through the trouble of explaining it to the staff serving you.

If you've passed by Ikea restaurant & cafe when you're in Ikea, it's not any ordinary food court that serves you the plain usual food. Though it's a self-service canteen style-like, their dishes are nonetheless appetising. Do try out their meatballs and chicken wings as it is one of their specialty. Their meatballs eaten with cream sauce and jam is the perfect combination to satisfy your tastebud. Their desserts are a must try too, go for the Daim cake where you not get elsewhere but Ikea. Usually it is very pack during the lunch hours and no reservation can be made.

If these are not enough for you, Ikea do have a small store selling frozen and dry food, usually their specialty from Sweden. You are able to purchase their meatballs, cream sauce and the jam here for you to bring home to cook and enjoy it! Besides that, their hotdog and vanilla ice cream selling for $1 are always selling like a hot cakes. Do try it out if you want to have a quick bite before going off for shopping.

Overall, it's quite a pleasant place to have a simple lunch or dinner and their meatballs always leaves you craving for more.
