New things to do & events in June 2023


It seems like it was only yesterday when we counted down to 2023. Now we’re already at the half-way mark of the year. Welcome to June. Not only are there a whole bunch of new activities in Singapore this month, it’s also school’s out for the kiddos.

To help you make good use of your time, here are 9 new things to do in June 2023 that’ll make sure your holidays are well-spent. 


1. Visit an IG-worthy Italian exhibit at Rose Romance at GBTB

Valentines’ Day may be over, but love’s still in the air. From 2nd June to 16th July, look forward to Rose Romance at Gardens by the Bay. Experience the feels at displays that are inspired by the region of Puglia in Southern Italy. If you think that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s one of the top wedding places in the world. 

If you’re an anti-romantic, don’t worry, this is an IG-worthy photo op surrounded by pretty red roses and trulli flowers – something for the ‘Gram, ain’t we right?

2. Shop preloved clothes from $1 at Huanspace Thrift Event

If you find yourself relating to this, “I have nothing to wear but I’m kinda broke as well”, we’ve got some good news for you. Find pieces for as low as $1 at Huanspace Thrift Event, happening on 18th June. Prepare yourself for a variety of unique styles such as vintage outfits that cater to all sizes. 

However, if you’re on the opposite end of the spectrum and find your wardrobe overflowing with pieces, simply drop off your pre-loved pieces at Huanspace and they’ll put it on their racks for 8 weeks for a new owner to adopt them.

3. Feast your heart out & groove at Gastrobeats

Good food? Check. Good music? Of course. #SupportLocal? Ya lah. From 1st-25th June, head down to GastroBeats, which has fun for the whole fam – including 50 local food vendors and live music performances. Some nosh you can try includes Mooping Bao Set ($8) from Central Siam Cuisine and Mochi You Tiao (from $6.90).

Kids can look forward to a myriad of games including bouncy castles. Check out Jumptopia Wild, which features 2 specially curated play zones with 11 massive space-themed inflatables.

4. Visit a pop-up fair with >120 brands selling craft, fashion & stickers

If you’re someone who likes quirky things, drop by The Everything Fair, a pop-up by organisers Big Farm Fair from 3rd-4th June and 10th-11th June

Here’s where you can support small businesses by shopping stickers from Toasty Town, enamel pins from Tiny Paperware, socks from Stay Bleak, and keychains from Unfinished Tails among others. Whether you’re looking for a birthday present for a loved one or new accessories, there’ll be over 120 local and international brands at the fair – so go wild.

5. Have fun with interactive artworks at the IG-worthy i Light 2023

i Light 2023 has made its way down to Marina Bay and will be there from 1st to 25th June. So, get your camera ready as there is a plethora of IG-worthy installations inspired by nature. If you’re more of a hands-on person, create your own musical masterpiece at Trumpet Flowers outside Fullerton Bay Hotel, an interactive art display kids will love.

This year, there are also artworks displayed at South Beach and Millenia Walk for those looking to escape the crowd. Plus, there’s a ticketed installation at The Promontory called Lightwave: Turning the Tide ($5/entry), where you’ll be “submerged” in an underwater world.

6. Try out Singapore’s longest indoor water slide at Aqua Adventure

If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity this holiday, look no further. Aqua Adventure at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir just opened and has the longest indoor slide in Singapore. Apart from the slides, look forward to dry activities such as climbing walls and a scramble net obstacle course.

If you’re looking to take things to a next level, try out their high element obstacle course. Be prepared to have water splashing on you randomly in an attempt to throw you off.

7. Pick from >300 toy capsule machines at Gashapon Bandai at Nex

If you see your friends posting about some capsule toys in Japan and you’re feeling a little FOMO, Gashapon Bandai has landed at NEX Shopping Mall – the first in Singapore. Look forward to a variety of gashapon machines – 300 to be exact.

Apart from collecting photocards, K-pop fans can also start looking out for BTS’ TinyTAN and NCT127 toy capsules. Well-known characters such as Pokémon and Demon Slayer are available, too. Once you’re done collecting them all, recycle your empty capsules by dropping them off in the “capsule input port”.

8. Immerse yourself in hyperrealistic projections at Sensory Odyssey

Whether you’re an arts or science person, you’ll love the ArtScience Museum Sensory Odyssey. This multi-sensory exhibition boasts hyperrealistic floor-to-ceiling projections of wildlife shot in 8K resolution from all over the world – and it’ll only be here from 27th May-29th October

This is your opportunity to feel as though you’re swimming with giant sperm whales, be up close and personal with a praying mantis feeding on its prey, and even “flying” with butterflies and other insects. 

Towards the end, play your part by writing down some of the action you can take for the environment on a paper leaf and stick it to the mangrove display. Every leaf is a mangrove tree that’ll be planted

9. Race your friends at a Tamiya event happening at 3 malls
