A New Social & Reading Space With Free Books Is Opening At Causeway Point – Here’s What We Know So Far

The HomePage @ Causeway Point

If you’re someone who spends hours wandering through niche bookstores in Singapore or are always on the lookout for new places to chill without spending a fortune, here’s something to look forward to.

In 2028, you’ll have a new hangout spot in Woodlands where you can curl up with a good book, catch a film, or simply spend time with your friends.

Dubbed The HomePage @ Causeway Point, this upcoming social and reading space is a collaboration between Frasers Centrepoint Trust and the National Library & Archives Board (NLB). Here’s everything we know so far.

What is The Homepage @ Causeway Point all about?

When it opens in 2028, The Homepage @ Causeway Point will boast a 32,000sqft space featuring books, community spaces, and activities for everyone of any age. It will span Levels 6 and 7 of Causeway Point, with communal areas for book reading, rest, and recreation.

It’s part of the 2027-2029 revamp of Causeway Point, after which the mall is expected to have close to 250 stores, refreshed dining and retail offerings, upgraded facilities, and new amenities.

So, even if you’re not much of a reader, there’ll be more reasons to visit Causeway Point once the revamp is complete.

What can I expect at The HomePage @ Causeway Point?

Communal social areas featuring heritage-inspired designs

Unlike your typical library, where you might feel compelled to keep your voice down, The HomePage is designed to be a space where reading and socialising meet.

And the best part? Visitors will be able to enjoy food and drinks within the community reading space, making it a potential spot for an afternoon of reading over a cuppa coffee.

The design will also pay tribute to Singapore’s heritage, with architectural elements inspired by the colourful HDB blocks in Teck Whye, the former Stamford Road National Library, and Singapore’s Brutalist architecture from the 1970s.

Browse & take home pre-loved books for free

Here’s arguably the highlight for bookworms: you’ll be able to take home pre-loved books for free, without going through the usual borrowing process. The HomePage will house one of Singapore’s largest publicly accessible collections of pre-loved books from NLB’s libraries, with titles available in English and Mother Tongue languages.

These books also won’t have to be returned by a due date. Instead, visitors are encouraged to pass on books they’ve finished reading so that others can enjoy them too. We think this is a pretty neat way of helping to give old books a new lease of life.

Dedicated space for Singapore literature

Sing Lit lovers won’t be left out either, as The HomePage will feature an extensive showcase of Singaporean literature and local authors.

Catch film screenings, author talks & storytelling sessions

There’s more to The HomePage than just books. An indoor theatre and screening space will also host activities such as film screenings, author talks, storytelling sessions, and cultural programmes.

Families with little ones can also look forward to children’s play zones and interactive experiences, making this a potential family-friendly pit stop during weekend mall outings.

Look forward to The HomePage @ Causeway Point opening in 2028

Most of us know the struggle of having to talk in whispers in libraries, or mischievously sneak food in to fuel up for long study or reading sessions. With The HomePage’s opening, we’ll be getting not only a library we’re encouraged to chat in, but also one we can happily eat in. Best of all, they’ll never fine us for the late return of books.

So while 2028 might seem a little far off, the idea of a library experience like no other will keep us counting down till the day it opens.

More things to look forward to:
