Tech Saturday is back in town
Let’s be honest – as mind-boggling as technology is, tech talk has the power to lull some of us into a deep, deep nap with its confusing jargon and theories. Lucky for us, Tech Saturday is coming to town to prove that the tech world is one we can all be a part of.
During its 3rd run this year, Tech Saturday is back with double the fun, with bigger showcases, workshops and cool new inventions to discover over a two-day event. Here are some activities you can look forward to at Singapore’s biggest tech carnival this April:
Go deep sea diving in a VR coral reef
Ease into the riveting world of virtual reality at the interactive Showcase zone of the carnival. You’ll be able to go for a VR Dive into the deep sea ocean and explore coral reefs – all while keeping dry. This short VR training programme is even used to train professional divers for what they can expect while in the water!
And if you haven’t a clue how VR works, check out our experience with it here.
Other fun activities here include the Drone Try-Outs at the upsized Arena, where you can pilot your very first drone flight. And if you’ve ever wondered how it’ll be like to control a battlefield – wonder no more. At the Remote Control Tank Battlefield, channel your inner tank commander and execute the art of strategic warfare through your very own remote controlled tanks and battle station.
Get your family portrait printed in 3D
Take home a skill or two from this year’s Tech Saturday, which offers a variety of 2-hour workshops. Potato Pirates puts the fun in fundamentals, teaching both kids and adults the basics of coding. Little ones can let their creativity loose with Little Artists for VR, transforming their hand-drawn artwork into 3D VR pieces.
Drawing in the air might sound a little crazy – unless it’s with a 3D printing pen of course. Try it out for yourself, all while learning how printing with plastic works in the real world. And forget the old-school family portraits – 3D ones are the way to go. You can even bring home a miniature version of yourself!
Win up to $3,000 worth of prizes just by playing FIFA17
Gamers, it’s time to stop hiding behind the screen and show the world your bad-ass skills. Join the Super Cup Challenge, where you can play PS4 games like FIFA 17, pitting yourself against other challengers. If you aren’t ready to become the reigning champion just yet, simply observe the tournament.
Put your quick thinking to the test with ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny, the first locally designed real-time strategy game to be released on a PS4 box-set. It’s even being sold in the US and European regions!
Up your game and play for the win – $3,000 worth of prizes will be distributed to the top 8 players for each game!
Drop by Tech Saturday’s Pop-Up Roadshow at the Plaza Singapura outdoor atrium on 22nd April in order to pre-register for the eSports Tournament!

Shop to your nerdy heart’s content at the Tech Marketplace in the Tinker Space where you will find some of the coolest keepsakes you can take home to remember Tech Saturday by. We’re talking do-it-yourself pianos and lamps by Thinkcrate, Bloxel’s build-your-own video games, and even mini drones!
Tech Saturday – where tech comes to life
Virtual reality oceans, free coding classes and the coolest new thingamajigs, this tech carnival couldn’t possibly get any better – or can it? Here’re the two magic words we’ve all been waiting to hear: free admission!
There’ll be tons more to expect and learn with booths like The Digital Maker, showing us just how simple creativity in the tech sphere can be with their two inventions – a digital fan and a tea brewer powered by a microcontroller called a micro:bit. Try your hand at building your very own digital masterpiece and take your work of art home with you.
So whether you’re the next Bill Gates, a newbie, young or just young-at-heart, Tech Saturday is the place for everyone to be this weekend.
