One of the hottest places to be, both figuratively and literally, as we head into July is the island paradise that is Sentosa. Its ongoing Disney-themed bonanza is stirring up much hubbub, but for folks who’d rather mellow out as the waves ebb and flow, fret not, as there’s something for you folks too.
As part of their Stories by the Beach initiative, you’ll find that a makeshift library has popped up on the island grounds. If that has intrigued the bookworm within, here’s all you need to know before heading down in your flip flops for a sun-kissed reading sesh.
Sentosa has partnered with the National Library Board (NLB) to station a temporary library on the island. The installation is free for all to visit, and is here to stay from now till 31st December 2026.

As of writing, you can find this mobile library in the vicinity of Palawan Beach, at Angsana 3 which is near the 7-11 convenience store. But, seeing that it’s essentially a library on wheels, don’t be surprised if you spot it elsewhere on the island in the coming weeks. For now, you can get to Palawan Beach by taking the Sentosa Express monorail and alighting at Beach Station.
Feel free to take a book from the installation’s humble selection to read under the shade of a palm tree. There are titles for both children and adults to entertain yourselves with after a fun day frolicking in the sand. You’re welcome to take home the books if you’d like, but you’re encouraged to stock the library with some of your own too.
The Stories by the Beach installation is just one of many Sit-n-Read nodes around Singapore set up by NLB to spread the joy of reading. Some examples of these nodes include the Sci-Fi Library at Parkway Parade, and the Comics and Games Library at Punggol Coast Mall. However, unlike those pop-ups, the node at Sentosa is the only one that’s open 24/7.
A trip to Sentosa does not always have to culminate in rowdy fun. Although the island has a slew of adrenaline-pumping attractions like HyperDrive and SkyPark Sentosa, thanks to the new Stories by the Beach roving library, a good thriller can also be tucked behind the flip of a page.
