PropNex Family Zone at Gardens by the Bay
For parents with kids, the free playgrounds around Singapore are your lifesavers, especially if you’ve got little ones with seemingly boundless energy. Well, you’ve got another fun-filled option to add to that list, as the PropNex Family Zone has just opened.
It’s a new family-themed playground in Gardens by the Bay, and boy, is it huge. With swings and slides galore, obstacle courses, and a speedy zipline, here’s all you need to know before you head down for a whale of a time.
How to get to the PropNex Family Zone?

The PropNex Family Zone is a free playground located in Gardens by the Bay, right beside its existing Active Garden. The most convenient way to get there is to take the MRT and alight at Bayfront MRT station on the Downtown and Circle line. Afterwards, the PropNex Family Zone is about a 10-minute walk away.
You can also opt to take the Gardens by the Bay shuttle bus service from Bayfront MRT instead of walking. It cost $3 for 2 rides, and you’ll want to alight at the Active Garden stop. If you’re driving there, the closest car parks to the PropNex Family Zone are the Bayfront Plaza and Main Entrance car parks. Below are the rates for the 2 car parks:

What to expect at the PropNex Family Zone playground?

You know you’ve arrived at the PropNex Family Zone once you spot an enormous sculpture of Becky Bunny, the adorable Families for Life mascot. After you’ve snapped a couple of pics beside the gleeful bunny and her siblings, take a closer look at the playground and you’ll notice a slew of thoughtful details embedded within the play area.

For instance, some of the playground equipment are decorated with quotes about inculcating good family values, while others take the shape of recognisable local fare, like this one that’s shaped like an ang ku kueh.

Nearby, there’s a large see-saw and a bowl-shaped swing, both of which can sit a few tots at once so they can all go on them together; perfect for making a new friend or 2. Imaginative kids can also head behind the counter of a play pretend market stand; it’s stocked full with wooden cut-outs of fruits and veggies for an immersive experience.

Another feature that the kids will have a blast on is this pair of towers that mimic Garden by the Bay’s iconic Supertrees. There are flights of stairs for daring little ones to ascend to bring them into the 9m-tall towers, and once they’re at the top, they can cross a bridge to get to the other side to whiz down a slide.

For some competitive fun, there are 2 different obstacle courses – one for younger kids and one for older ones – to have a go at. There’s even a timer at the start of the courses that you can use to see who comes out on top in your lil’ race. Some highlights of the obstacle course include climbing nets, balancing beams, and a zipline to hang onto as the kids speed their way through the finish line.

Finally, don’t forget to stop by the sand pit. Other than frolicking in the sand, this one has a long, wobbly bridge that tests your child’s balance, as well as interactive elements such as containers to fill up with sand to pour into little nooks to set things in motion.

By the way, the sand pit and the towers get illuminated with colourful light projections in the evening, so pay a visit later on in the day for a mesmerising light show.
