Oversea Seafood KL in Malaysia
These days, Singaporeans often travel to Malaysia because the exchange rate is more forgiving on our wallets. Apart from mall-hopping in KL and visiting affordable pet cafes in JB, eating at affordable restaurants where the food is good is another favourite pastime activity we indulge in.
If you are a seafood lover, add Oversea Seafood KL to your list of things to do in KL. It’s a newly opened restaurant offering fresh shellfish at affordable prices. And has a really cool aquarium theme.

Dine in an underwater world-themed setting

Oversea Seafood KL is a 2-storey restaurant situated at TREC Kuala Lumpur, one of the largest entertainment hubs with nightclubs, bars, and cafes. As soon as you step foot into the restaurant, you’ll be greeted by vibrant projections of turtles and stingrays swimming on the ceiling.

On board this “ship” of a restaurant, you will notice huge octopus tentacles laid around the stairs to the second floor. As part of the under-the-sea theme, even the toilets and nursing rooms here are lit up with illuminated seashells, and an ocean aesthetic with marble walls.

For those thinking of hosting birthday parties and company gatherings, there are a total of 28 private dining rooms for you to dine here too, each having the capacity to accommodate 6-45 people.
Some of these rooms have LED TV screens displaying swimming fishies, as well as walls covered in seashell graphic art.

The food here is of course the main highlight, with live seafood such as clams, lobsters, crabs, prawns, and oysters being displayed in tanks on the first floor. What makes the dining experience fun is that you can personally choose the shellfish that captures your eye, after which it will be weighed and transported to the kitchen by a conveyor belt.

Some of the must-try dishes include the Live Australian Lobster (RM298/kg), the Indonesian Mud Crab, and the fresh Canadian Oysters.

Most of their shellfish dishes can be cooked in a variety of styles, such as Claypot Buttermilk crab, lobster fried with Golden Garlic and Fried Chilli, and oysters stir-fried with XO sauce.

Another honourable mention would be their Wild Caught Bamboo Fish, which is served in a beautiful presentation with parsley garnish. However, do note that prices for seafood are seasonal so don’t forget to check with the staff before ordering.

Other than seafood, there are also zhi char-style dishes here such as the Braised Chicken with Sliced Ginger & Sesame Oil (from RM38), Deep Fried Crispy Beancurd with Dried Shrimps (RM30), and Stir-Fried Spinach with Crab Meat & Egg in Claypot (from RM35).
