Avid Disney fans, we’ve got the latest tea: the Immersive Disney Animation has finally hit our shores, so mark your calendars ‘lest you miss out.
From now till 31st December 2023, there’ll be cool interactive exhibits on various Disney hits including Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, and Tangled at Sands Theatre. And if you’re parents to young kiddos, take this opportunity to introduce them to your favourite films growing up. Here’s everything you need to know:
Held at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, the Immersive Disney Animation is a 90-minute affair where you’ll be able to experience various exhibits that are all things Disney. The event is split into 3 different areas – Pre-Exhibit Areas 1 and 2, and the gallery.
Let’s start with Pre-Exhibit Area 1. Here’s where you should whip out your cameras, as there are plenty of photo ops here. Think a giant Mickey Mouse and miniature versions of Maui and Moana for you to snap pictures with.
Life-size models of Anna and Elsa from Frozen can also be found here, surrounded with autumn leaves for maximum #fallvibes. Finally your little ones can “meet” them in the flesh!
If your little ones are feeling fidgety, they can also swing by the mini drawing station located outside the toilets – there are free colouring pages and markers for use.
Once you’re done posing with your besties, head over to Pre-Exhibit Area 2. This is where you can catch all the behind-the-scenes action of how your favourite Disney characters are brought to life.
We’re talking Frozen, Cinderella, Pinocchio, Dumbo, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Peter Pan – all the big hits from the 1980s to recent years.
Budding Picassos can watch time-lapse videos of how each character was sketched, line by line, at the drawing desk. Spoiler alert: it’s not as easy as typing a couple of words into an AI image generator.
There are video displays detailing the process of how animators ideate and create each character too. NGL, the insane amount of thought and precision put into each work blew our minds. You simply have to check it out for yourself.
Please don’t judge our skills.
Naturally, we were inspired to give it a go ourselves. The Drawing Table is where you’ll get to learn the techniques used to draw different Disney characters. You can then use these same skills to create new animated characters, and who knows, you might just be the next Walt Disney!
Then, walk through the Narnia-like Disney vault to get to the 360° gallery.
There are sofas at the gallery for you to chill and soak up the ambience.
Iconic scenes from various films are played on the giant screens, so feel free to sing along to Let It Go or belt out the Circle of Life. In case you need help, the beginning of the song goes “Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba.” You’re welcome.
Tip: the corners of the gallery make for the best photo spots. Position your model right at the corner, and wait for the screens to project a scenic background like the lantern scene from Tangled.
The floor here ain’t lava; it’s ever-changing. The floor of the gallery is also interactive, with image projections that’ll change as you tread around the room. The visuals will change depending on the film that’s displayed on the screens – for example, snowflakes will appear with every step you take during the screening of Frozen. This means you’re practically Elsa.
The wristbands you receive will also light up in several colours.
Adding to the experience are the bubble machines that are constantly blowing little blobs around the room so you’ll truly feel like you’re under the sea. We already know that this element will be a big hit amongst the children.
Commemorate your time here with some Disney-themed merch. There are adorable soft toys, calendars, t-shirts, DIY jewellery, and notebooks to cop.
It’s time to whip your Disney prince or princess outfit out of the storeroom and don it. If you’re too shy, make your kids dress up instead – hehe – because this is your chance to fulfill your Disney dreams.

Tickets are now available. You can go for the Basic ticket from $33/pax that comes with a wristband, or get the Premium ticket from $43/pax to score a poster too. Of course, you can upgrade and purchase the VIP ticket from $73/pax – this will entitle you to a Disney-themed lanyard, badge, mug, and poster.
