We all love a good art jamming session. After all, it’s not just a chill time to bond with friends and family; it’s also therapeutic to smear paint on canvas.
But you don’t always need just paintbrushes to express yourself. If you’re seeking true creative freedom, then any medium could be a canvas for your next masterpiece. So we’ve sussed out the weird and the wacky, as well as the ol’ school and traditional ways to unleash your inner Picassso through these art jamming studios.
P.S. Advance booking is required for all studios.

We’re all familiar with getting tan lines from standing out in the sun for too long. Well, that’s the premise of how your next masterpiece is going to look like when you book a session at ProjectBlue.
Image adapted from: ProjectBlue
The art jamming studio has cyanotype workshops, where objects such as flowers and leaves are placed on paper or fabric that is soaked in a light-sensitive solution. These are then left out in the sun for the chemicals to react to UV rays. What you’re left with is a print of your objects in a deep indigo blue.

Beginners can start off with the introductory course to get familiar with cyanotype, but advanced printers can try immortalising their favourite selfie with bae into indigo too with the photo workshop.
Food can be works of art, and no, we don’t just mean tiny portions on large plates that make good pics for the ‘Gram. At The Art Nooq, artists and foodies can combine their passions by painting on macarons to make them extra atas.
It’s a delicate job having to paint fine details on something this fragile. Rest assured, the art jam is guided by professionals, so your French pastries will look good enough to hang in The Louvre.
You’ll get 5 macarons to paint during the 2-hour session. The paints are edible too, so you can pop them into your mouth once you’re done snapping pics.
Price: $60/pax
Musicians – aspiring or otherwise – here’s how you can walk away with a new skill and instrument from an art jam session. Avant-Garde Art Space has a Ukulele Paint & Play Workshop that lets you assemble while customising your own ukulele.
Paint and assembly takes place within a 3-hour-long session. That’s plenty of time to get acquainted with your new instrument, from learning its anatomy to picking up knowledge about how strings can be changed in the future.
Once complete, the workshop ends with a lesson on basic playing techniques, so you can start jamming immediately.
“Think before you ink” is a wise adage you should really listen to before you get a permanent tattoo. But at the State of Shiok tattoo workshop, you’ll have no ragrets picking up a tattoo machine at their pseudo tattoo art jamming session.
In 3 hours, you’ll be taught by a resident tattoo artist on the basics of inking, turning into an ink master in no time. You get to practice techniques such as fine lining and shading on your own personal sheet of silicone skin.
The design options are literally endless – choose to keep it in black and grey, or add colours to make your artwork pop. If you’re sceptical about free-handing the tattoo, request for specific stencils which cost an additional $8-$28, depending on the complexity of your design.
When it comes to unique craft workshops, The Sage Artelier is your one-stop studio offering a variety of uncommon art jamming sessions. 2 of their most interesting ones include a LED Light Painting Workshop and Glass Painting Workshop.
If you’re obsessed with those aesthetic neon signs all over cafes, you’ll be able to make your very own during the LED Painting Workshop. Have a go at twisting LED tubes to create your design. You’ll also get to paint your own background on canvas, so your neon lights really stand out.
Meanwhile, if you’re an anime fan, the Glass Painting Workshop lets you paint your favourite 2D characters on glass. It’s similar to techniques done in animation studios, and you’ll add colours and details layer by layer to create a smooth finish. This piece of glass comes in a frame too, so it’s good to go if you’re planning to hang it up.
The thought of spray painting walls sounds illegal, but trust us, you won’t be going to jail when you book a session at the Heaven Spot. This art jamming session is nothing short of satisfying as you get to legally vandalise walls with spray paint in a 1-hour session.
You get free rein over a 30sqft panel to paint and 2 cans of paint for you to go ham on your graffiti artwork. Depending on how elaborate your piece is going to be, you might want to purchase additional cans. The professional-grade cans are $12 each, but we recommend looking through the semi-used cans bins for $1/can.
While it’s impossible to bag home your entire 30sqft masterpiece, a small 60x90cm take-home panel can be purchased for $20.
Safety wise, customers will be equipped with a gas mask and optional safety gear, which includes cool-looking coveralls, a pair of safety glasses, and gloves.
If you’re looking for a good de-stresser that doesn’t require any prerequisites, try out Art Pop!’s Balloon Splatter Painting Workshop. You’re guaranteed to bring home an abstract masterpiece despite lacking any art skills.

You’re probably wondering how it works. Well, it includes filling balloons with paint then pinning them onto a canvas. Then, go crazy popping the balloons darts to create your own Jackson Pollock-esque work of art.

When you’ve got a shining personality, you’ll want even seemingly mundane household items to reflect that. That’s what you’ll get when you sign up for Room To Imagine’s acrylic pouring workshops. The organic flow of dripping paint will leave you with clocks and paintings that look as if they’ve popped right out of Pinterest.

Other techniques include adding gold and using a heat gun to form bubbles to create a colourful wave pool of some sort – super aesthetic.
Post jam session, the clocks are assembled with black clock hands, which can be upgraded to silver or gold with a $3 fee. You may opt for a resin finish for an extra charge of $30, if you like that smooth, shiny look.
You’ve probably seen the resurgence of BE@RBRICK figurines all over social media, and if you’re looking to customise your own, L’Atelier Du Rêve will let you do just that. At the Liquid Flow Bear workshop, you’ll pour on your choice of acrylic paints to create a one-of-a-kind collectible.
The studio offers a variety of different sized figurines, from an adorable 8cm-tall bear that’s attachable to your keys, to a jumbo 75cm bear you can display at home.
If you think that art and science are complete opposites, Motion Art Space will prove you wrong. In fact, you’ll leave the studio with some stunning masterpieces.
In this fail-proof art jamming session, customers get to play around with the laws of physics and gravity to create beautiful messes of abstract art. To aid in this, the studio is equipped with pendulum set-ups, spin tables, hair-dryers, and other tools for experimenting with.
Motion Art Space also creates a vibey atmosphere with chill tunes to bop to, so you’ll be able to let loose and go full-on mad scientist.
Combine the great things of food and art together and you’ll get Café de Paris. Paint your next masterpiece here and you’ll get 10% off their food and drinks menus as an art jamming customer. They’ve got desserts such as the Lemon Meringue ($8.50) and Mille Crepe ($8.50) if you’re craving a sweet bite.
Jammers will get unlimited use of art materials such as acrylic paint, brushes, and stationery alongside reference pictures and an e-guide sheet. In case you don’t complete your painting on time, sessions extend to $10/pax per hour on the same day, or you can pay $21/pax for 3 hours on another weekday instead.
Unlike your everyday art jamming studio, Splat Paint House is the only splatter painting studio in Singapore where you can paint with squirt bottles, syringes, and even water guns.
They’ve got daytime art jamming sessions, but if you’re looking for something truly different, try their UV painting parties. In a fully UV-lit studio, you’ll be equipped with kid-safe, non-toxic fluorescent paint to splash onto your canvas. Don’t worry about getting messy too as you’ll be given a hooded waterproof poncho and plastic feet covers to use.
Canvas? Check. Paint? Check. Furry cats? Didn’t see that coming, but yes please.

Art jam with not just your instructor and friends, but with furry companions as well at Wildflower Studios – a home studio in Khatib owned by local author and illustrator Amanda Cho. Open only on an ad hoc basis on weekends, this studio allows you to let loose with a canvas, acrylic paint, a complimentary drink, and most importantly, 3 friendly cats.
While there’s a Chill out with Cats session where painting is free and easy, there’s also a Semi Guided Art Jam with Cats available for those who prefer a guided painting class.

If you’re looking for an activity for a small group of 6, opt for the family art jamming session at Boulevart. Instead of working on your own individual paintings, you’ll have to collaborate and paint on different parts of a 90cm x 120cm canvas to complete a large piece of art.
You can also level up your art skills through their workshops to learn how to utilise watercolour, metallics, and even pour art so that no 2 pieces will look the same. Each session lasts for 2 hours with free art supplies and tools – more than enough time to create a masterpiece.

With art pieces hung up on the plain white walls of Heartroom Gallery, the studio’s pretty much an art gallery as it is a painting space and classroom.

Classes here are 2.5 hours long, and go at $38/pax per session. While you’re there, you might want to have a go at their other unique art classes such as manga drawing, folk art painting, and Chinese brush painting. You’re even allowed to bring your own snacks and drinks into the venue for a quick energy boost while painting.
Located in the heart of Orchard Road, My Art Space provides a therapeutic environment and free flow tea or coffee while you art jam. You’re given 2.5 hours to create a masterpiece with multiple art materials – all for just $55. And when the creative juices run out, just take a look up and admire the waterfront view to refresh your mind.
Arteastiq is known as that art jamming place if you’re looking for sessions with free refreshments Their 3-hour art jam sessions include a canvas, an unlimited supply of art materials, and a free drink. Take your pick from coffee, tea, or an array of alcoholic beverages which are available at a top-up.
While sessions here are relatively pricier than at other studios, they have daily promos – for example, 1-for-1 art jamming with your significant other on Mondays ($36/person), and discounted prices for ladies night out on Wednesdays, just to name a few.
If your mind is as blank as the canvas you’ve got as you start drawing, check out their book corner that’s filled with art books and variety of pictures for you to draw some inspo from.
An indie studio snugly hidden in Jalan Sultan, Artify Studio has Art Jams that run for 2.5 hours per session, with all materials provided. What’s special about this place is that they have off-peak unguided art jamming sessions with flexible hours, so there’s no need to rush for fixed classes.

Don’t worry about getting dirty while painting either, they’ve got toilets with shower facilities just in case you get a little too carried away.
