So you’re terrified of jumping out of a plane – which is understandable because not everyone has the guts to high dive from thousands of feet.
If you still want to feel the rush that comes with it without paralysing yourself with fear, however, we’ve found a skydiving alternative for you. Meet indoor skydiving at iFly Singapore.
No, you won’t be hurling yourself out of a helicopter from above the clouds. Instead, you’ll be skydiving inside a wind tunnel.
Boasting to be one of the world’s largest, the towering vertical tunnel is almost 5-storeys high and comes with an 18ft-tall acrylic glass that gives you an unobstructed view of the South China Sea. With multiple fan speeds, you’ll be able to flip, flop, and soar through the air like the real deal, minus the death drop.
Since the inner airflow is scalable, everyone from children to extreme adventurists will be able to do it. To ease your mind, an instructor will be with you for the whole dive. They’ll gear you up with goggles, a helmet, and a flight suit, and put you through an orientation where you’ll learn the basics like how to manoeuvre your body in the air.
The entire experience lasts for 1.5 hours which includes a safety briefing, training, and a 45-second flying experience.
At iFly Singapore, you can book up to 2 consecutive skydives per person.
The cost of a single dive starts from $89/person and a double dive starts from $109/person. So, it gets cheaper the more rounds you go. To save an extra $20 per ticket, pre-book them online at least 1 day in advance.
After your first leap, you can decide whether you’d like to make it a more regular thing by getting a package. Newbies who need a bit more coaching and training can go for the Trial Training Package ($228 for 6 dives). Or, sign up for a membership that starts from $499/package and grants you 15 skydives.
Before you buy your tickets, do a quick scan through its list of criteria to ensure you’re fit for the flight. If you have a history of back, heart, neck, and shoulder injuries, are pregnant, or can’t wear a helmet, extreme speeds and height might not be for you. The same goes for children below the age of 7.
As with most sports, you should dress in comfy clothes and wear closed-toe shoes. Try to arrive at least an hour before the scheduled flight time so you can prep for it.
To get the same feel of skydiving without the apprehensive sweat of jumping out of a plane, go indoor skydiving at iFly Singapore.
The best part is, the indoor skydiving hub is located in Sentosa, so you can make it a whole day thing by heading to the beach and grabbing some grub afterwards. Now, all that’s left for you to do is to enjoy the ride.
