HYROX Youngstars in Singapore
If your kids have been curiously watching you drag sleds around in preparation for HYROX, they might finally get their turn to participate. The AIA HYROX Youngstars is officially making its Asian debut in SG at Singapore EXPO on 28th and 29th November 2026, opening the fitness race to kids and teens aged 8 to 15.
And no, this isn’t a case of chucking a kid into the regular HYROX course. The Youngstars format adapts the running distances, weights, and repetitions according to age, so younger racers get an appropriately scaled version of the competition.
What is HYROX Youngstars?

While this will be the 1st official HYROX Youngstars race in Asia, the concept isn’t completely new to Singapore. Back in 2024, Singapore hosted one of HYROX’s early Youngstars events, which helped shape the format used today.
Youngstars races have since been held in cities including London, Berlin, Salt Lake City, and Oslo.
Like the grown-up version, this is still very much a race. Participants are timed and ranked within their respective divisions, with results ordered according to the fastest finishing times.
Must my kids have prior experience to join?

You don’t have to be raising the next sporting prodigy for your kids to participate. No qualification or prior experience is required to participate, although racers must be at least 8 years old on competition day. Registration for the event has to be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
How does HYROX Youngstars work?
There are 4 age groups: 8 to 9, 10 to 11, 12 to 13, and 14 to 15 years old, with separate competitive divisions by gender. Racers compete according to their age on race day, rather than the age they’ll turn in the calendar year.
What can my kids expect at the HYROX Youngstars race?
SkiErg, jumps, rows & more

Regular HYROX competitors will recognise most of the exercises. The HYROX Youngstars edition features 8 workout stations, including the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull or drag, jumps, rowing, farmers carry, lunges, and wall balls or squats.
But an 8-year-old isn’t expected to do the same 102kg sled push as a 15-year-old boy. The race gets progressively tougher across 4 age groups, with everything from running distances to sled weights adapted accordingly. Here’s what the kids will have to tackle:
| Challenge | 8-9 years | 10-11 years | 12-13 years | 14-15 years |

Younger kids get age-appropriate adaptations

Parents who are still worried can rest easy, as there are some pretty significant modifications for the youngest competitors. Kids aged 8 to 9 will tackle 20m of frogger jumps instead of burpee broad jumps. From age 10 onwards, they’ll graduate to the latter, with 10- to 11-year-olds covering 20m and the older groups covering 40m.
The lunges are similarly scaled down. Kids aged 8 to 9 and 10 to 11 complete their 20m lunges without additional weight, while older kids use sandbags.

Younger racers also get another adaptation to their experience. The infamous wall balls haven’t completely disappeared, but the younger ones get a slightly different version. Racers aged 8 to 9 complete 50 squats with a 1kg ball, while those aged 10 to 11 use a 2kg ball. Wall balls kick in from ages 12 to 13, with the ball weight and target height increasing according to division.
Running distances increase with age

Yet another difference from regular HYROX is that younger kids aren’t necessarily running laps between every workout station.
Each Youngstars running lap is around 200m to 275m. Children aged 8 to 9 and 10 to 11 complete an entry lap, a middle lap between Stations 4 and 5, and an exit lap between Stations 7 and 8. Older kids aged 12 to 13 do 2 entry laps and 2 exit laps, while only the 14- to 15-year-olds run a lap between every workout station.
This makes the younger divisions substantially more manageable while retaining the run-workout format that makes HYROX, well, HYROX.
A nurturing & learning experience

HYROX Youngstars isn’t simply a case of showing up and immediately being sent towards a barrage of workout races. While this is a competitive event, the rulebook specifically states that judges are coached to create a nurturing and learning experience, including assisting young racers with meeting the correct movement standards where necessary.
What else should parents know about HYROX Youngstars?
At check-in, racers and their designated parent or guardian will receive the child’s timing chip, racer number, and wrist lanyard. Participants will need to bring a government- or school-issued photo ID showing their date of birth, along with their registration confirmation.

Before racing, participants are guided through a structured briefing and warm-up. This covers the race layout and rules, physical warm-ups, mobility exercises, equipment testing, and familiarisation with the starting area.
How much does a HYROX Youngstars sign-up cost?
Prices for HYROX Youngstars sign-ups are $65 for participants aged 8 to 11, and $75 for those aged 12 to 15.
A spectator ticket for 1 guardian per child is included in each sign-up, but additional spectators over the age of 12 will have to purchase spectator tickets at $32 each. Spectators under the age of 12 enjoy free entry, but still require a registered ticket.
