We’re just a couple of weeks away from National Day, and you know what that means. A landslide of SG61-related deals and events are headed our way, and we’re not complaining; after all, we’ll be fresh off the World Cup finals, so we’ll need some help ushering in the NDP vibes.
But if you just can’t wait for August to come, Marina Square is kick-starting the National Day festivities ahead of time with their Hello Singapore Sanrio pop-up. From adorable photo spots that are sure to remind you of the good ol’ days to exclusive Sanrio merch to fill your shopping baskets with, here’s what’s going down.
The Hello Singapore Sanrio pop-up has been set up at Marina Square’s Marina Foyer which can be found on Level 2 of the mall. It’ll be running from now till 16th August 2026, from 11am to 10pm daily, and entry is free for all.
One of the first things that’ll catch your eye when you make your way to the Hello Singapore Sanrio pop-up are the various backdrops inspired by iconic landmarks and sights on the Little Red Dot. Pretty much every Singaporean’s a self-proclaimed foodie, and so the pop-up has a couple of food-themed backdrops to feed your camera reel with.
Indulge in a serving of ice cream bread served by Kuromi’s ice cream cart, or dig into classic Singapore dishes like chilli crab and chicken rice with Pompompurin. Cinnamoroll’s waiting by a table which sports a design you’d instantly recognise from your HDB flat’s void deck, accompanied with a flurry of breakfast staples such as kaya toast.
Other photo spots that might evoke nostalgia include a retro-looking bus stop, where you’ll be twiddling your thumbs as you wait for a bus alongside My Melody. Meanwhile, Hello Kitty is stationed right in front of a cut-out of the famous Ang Mo Kio dragon playground.
Sanrio fans, you’ll have a field day perusing the shelves upon shelves of merch at the Hello Singapore Sanrio pop-up. For starters, consider your National Day get-ups settled, you’ll be able to kit the entire fam out in adorable Sanrio T-shirts. These come in kid and adult sizes, and start from $35 and $29 respectively
Our favourite ones include this strikingly red tee depicting the Sanrio gang hanging out on various floors of a HDB flat, as well as an “I Heart SG” shirt for the patriotic little ones.
For something practical, pick up a canvas tote ($29). It’s definitely roomy enough to carry your everyday essentials; in style might we add. This handy pouch ($29) is also another cute buy, as are their colourful lunch bags ($29).
As for not-so-practical pick-ups, we couldn’t get enough of these Mr. Merlion plushies ($39) of Hello Kitty and Kuromi dressed up as Merlions. At the checkout counter, there’s also Sanrio Characters x Mr. Merlion blind boxes ($23) that are hard to resist. Another uniquely Singaporean bauble can be found, or more accurately, put together, at the pop-up’s Pick A Name DIY keychain bar.
It has a slew of small ($15) and big name plates ($23), as well as pencil cases ($29) with holes to affix charms to. Apart from personalising them with your initials, you can also adorn them with charms of famous landmarks in Singapore like Changi Airport’s control tower, Marina Bay Sands, and the Merlion.
If you can’t make up your mind on what to get, give the pop-up’s Sanrio Kuji Lucky Draw a go. Going for $10 a pop, you’ll get to draw a ticket, and based on which one Lady Luck has blessed you with, you’ll get a corresponding prize. Some of the goodies you can expect to win include plushies, enamel pins, post cards,

There are 4 designs to collect, each depicting beloved characters immersing themselves in Singapore’s rich culture. Designs include the Sanrio gang chiong-ing for perhaps a departing bus, feasting on local delicacies, practicing their Singlish, and paying a visit to the island’s many tourist attractions.
There’s also a complimentary tissue pouch you can snag by for every $61 spent at the pop-up. Although not technically free, you can purchase an acrylic keychain blind pack for just $1 (U.P. $8); simply post your snaps of the pop-up and follow @goldwood.sg, @sanriostoresg, and @sanriosingapore on Instagram to enjoy the promotional price.
Finally, there’s a little colouring corner at the pop-up with tables and chairs set up that has free colouring sheets for children to flex their creative muscles while taking a breather.
As with anything relating to Hello Kitty and friends, we expect the pop-up to attract big crowds, especially on the weekends, but don’t let that deter you from heading down to take a look yourself. You just might be tempted to splurge on a trinket or 2 to show your love, for both your favourite Sanrio characters and sunny Singapore this National Day.
