The Hello Kitty Exhibition at Tokyo National Museum is said to feature the largest collection of merch ever seen. In other words, you can put your childhood bestie’s collection to shame once and for all.
Do note, this exhibition is time-limited and will only be around till 24th February 2025.
To celebrate the beloved Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary, this exhibition – As I Change, So Does She – will take you through her history and iconic moments. You’ll be able to find cool artwork and original video content.
Besides the illustrations and exhibits, you can make use of the cute photo ops and spice up your IG feed.
The Hello! Memories chapter will definitely tug at your heartstrings as you get to reminisce about all the past Hello Kitty merch as they’re displayed on the walls. Make it fun and try spotting how many of the goods you owned in the past.
Hello! Style will have a massive photo booth, plus exhibits displaying Hello Kitty’s different eras through time.
Much like the average person, Hello Kitty is a trendy queen – always open to changing her aesthetic and using new lingo. We stan.
In Hello! Evolution, you’ll be able to enjoy the cool videography by video director, Jun Makino. You’ll get the deets behind what makes Hello Kitty distinctive and so special.
Take a trip down memory lane and explore Hello! Collaboration – the section devoted to the different collabs, like Sanrio x Converse, shared over time. If you’re an OG fan, you’d remember the chaos that ensued with the announcement of a new Hello Kitty collab. Some of these events were character-building moments for us cultured folk.
Hello! Friends will feature creative illustrations by 30 artists. Feel free to do some major introspections on the workings of Hello Kitty since you’re such an expert.
Wrap up your experience and click cute pics at the Hello! Tomorrow zone. This will feature Hello Kitty and a few of your other fav Sanrio characters, like Melody.
Tokyo National Museum has a cool collaboration with Hello Kitty where they’ve got re-imagined pieces of artwork, like the Wind God and Thunder God Screens. If you thought Hello Kitty was cool before, wait till you see her braving Gods and seas. That’s one tough kitty.
