On 19th May, Grab’s collaboration with Tinder took flight as customers were given the chance to share free rides with Singapore’s prominent social media personalities.
The luckiest ones were invited to a personal hang-out session with the stars – we followed Chloe Choo (@chloeandchoo) and Ben Tang (@bentanggg) on 21st May to see how their time spent together turned out.
With her blonde-green hair and edgy tattoos, e blogger and Instagram fashion icon Chloe Choo is known for her eye for aesthetics – which she put to good use at a painting session at Cups N Canvas.
Joining Chloe this chill Sunday morning was Krish, the lucky man who shared a Grab ride with her. The two hit it off with common interests in art – Krish was a student at LASALLE College of the Arts.
Preppin’ for the mess
Creativity has no boundaries
After some chit-chat, the pair got to the real work, starting out with careful strokes like true artists. Soon, they let their creativity run loose, and the paint ran wild on their canvases.
Chloe, leaving her “mark” on Krish’s work
Chloe and Krish’s completed beautiful paintings – as Chloe put it, Krish’s painting depicted “molten lava egg yolk being cooked on a blue pan with burnt parts”.
Ben and his date Katherine
You might recognise Ben from local Youtuber Deekosh’s videos – he’s garnered quite a lot of teenage fangirls with his good looks and humour. Joining him on a cooking affair at Culinary On was Katherine, a bubbly content producer who shared a ride with him.
With the help of Culinary On’s in-house chef, the duo baked a chocolate lava cake and prepped a tomato-based pasta – they sauteed prawns and even made the linguine from scratch!
Making instant ice-cream with liquid nitrogen
The kitchen became a science lab when the chef brought out a tub of liquid nitrogen for Ben and Katherine to pour into their vanilla ice-cream mixture. And voila, creamy and soft ice-cream was made on the spot.
The chefs and their creation
Dessert after the main course – chocolate lava cake!
The final product: Linguine topped with plump shrimp, fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes. But the star of the day was their chocolate lava cake and ice cream combo, aptly named “I Lava You”.
We’re all enamoured by social media personalities, but how many of us will get to know them beyond their carefully curated spaces on Instagram? With just a little leap of faith and a bit of luck, you never know what your attempt in socialising can bring you – just as how Krish and Katherine got to know our picture-perfect influencers’ on a personal level.
Add a spark to your daily journey and let it be a time for insightful connections. With GrabShare, we can reach beyond our social circles – imagine getting on to your Grab ride and chancing upon your favourite influencer, a national athlete, or even an ex-CEO!
Likewise, Tinder has been allowing its users to match with people they would otherwise have had no chance to encounter. The social app has been expanding to become more than a dating platform by encouraging like-minded people to connect. And yes, initiating a conversation is never easy – but a simple ‘hi’ can open you up to discovering the most interesting people you’ll ever meet.
