The GoBlue4SG Carnival At Marina Barrage Has Free Yoga, Fireworks & Movie Screening Under The Stars

GoBlue4SG Night Carnival 2019

Seeing the adorable Water Wally mascot triggers waves of nostalgia from the water-saving initiatives introduced during our schooling days. As the years pass, the need to conserve water has only become more urgent and severe. There’s actually a lot that goes on behind the scenes before clean water reaches our tap for showering, cooking and drinking.

That said, banding together as a nation to do our part in saving water needn’t be a drag. In the spirit of raising awareness for eco-conscious efforts, PUB is holding the GoBlue4SG Night Carnival at Marina Barrage on 22nd March 2019 from 5.30PM to 10PM. Expect a fireworks spectacular, live performances by artistes such as Joanna Dong and a movie session under the stars!

Here are some event highlights:

As a Little Red Dot on the worldwide map with limited natural resources, it is vital for us Singaporeans to conserve water as best as we can. Sit back and relax as a lineup of local artistes come together to belt out their hits in support of the water-saving cause.

Kick back and enjoy performances by brilliant homegrown artistes such as pop and rock band 53A, beloved husband-and-wife duo Alfred Sim and Tay Kewei, and Joanna Dong, who’s won hearts all across the globe as a finalist on the “Sing! China” talent programme.

Along with the good folks of The Yoga Co., Sandra Riley Tang will be leading a yoga session from 5.30PM to 6.25PM for 50 avid yogis and beginners alike. It’s free to participate, and cute yoga mats as well as T-shirts in the shade of blue will be given out. Here’s how you could win a spot:

  1. Head to www.makeeverydropcount.sg to make a pledge
  2. Screenshot your pledge and DM it to @goblueforSG2019 with the accompanying code: “TSLGOBLUE”

The first 10 TSL readers to do so will secure a spot at the yoga session. All the best and fastest fingers first!

Water Wally parade

Catch 5 Water Wally mascots decked out in glistening LED lights roaming the carnival, spreading good cheer and interacting with guests for special photo ops.

They’ll be springing by twice within two hours, on top of a performance scheduled between 8PM to 8.30PM, preceding the Guest-Of-Honour speech by Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. Keep your eyes peeled!

Fireworks display, movie screening & family entertainment

Stick around for a stunning fireworks show starting at 8.20PM, followed by a short break before the outdoor movie screening commences. In line with the theme of water and how all our lives are centred around it, the 8.30PM film sesh will be showing Aquaman.

A box office smash hit that carries with it an all-important message of everyone’s duty to preserve our precious planet.

There’ll also be train rides, glowing neon hand painting and a photo booth for hours of fun for the entire fam.

Take your pick from 2 different aesthetics: an adorable Water Wally, or Insta-worthy marbling effects using the gorgeous shades of the deep blue sea.

Whichever you go with, there’ll be a UV-light photo booth onsite to snap pics of your glow-in-the-dark masterpiece coming to life. Both the handpainting service and the photo booth are free of charge to all carnival attendees!

Keep your energy levels high amidst the festivities by making a pit stop at the series of food trucks. We’ve got our eye out for The Travelling C.O.W’s upgraded tacos, filled with fried chicken, Korean beef bulgogi and – gasp! – creamy mac and cheese.

Sng Bao Society’s modern ice pops come in flavour favourites like Horlicks, Thai Milk Tea and Ribena. For a refreshing thirst quencher, the fruity combos such as Lychee Lemonade Cooler are sure to beat the heat.
