Food Republic launches FR Rewards App
Cashbacks, promo codes, discounts and whatnots – my ears perk up whenever I hear these words. Living by the old adage that a penny saved is a penny earned, I’m always on the hunt for ways to make my spending a less expensive affair.
Cue: Food Republic’s FR Rewards App which has been a real money-saver. The app instantly gives you $1 when you pay through it. That’s a whole lot, considering a meal at a food court costs less than $10.
How to claim your $1 off
Simple is the name of the game to earn your buck. All you need to do is spend a minimum of $6 and scan the QR code to make payment at the stalls.
Just follow these steps:
- At payment page, select the Promo/Deal tab.
- Select the $1 voucher and the amount will be deducted from the final bill when you check out.
Remember to redeem the voucher before paying.
Bring out your inner kiasu auntie as there will be only 5,000 redemptions per promo period*. Note that you’re limited to three redemptions in December; one code per promo period.
*Promotion periods in 2018:
- 1 to 10 December
- 11 to 20 December
- 21 to 30 December
Order your food in advance and skip the queues
The app is a blessing during the lunchtime rush hours too, as you can order takeaways through it and still enjoy $1 off upon check-out. Just follow the steps above.
On top of that, each transaction lets you earn loyalty points, which you can accumulate for Food Republic e-vouchers and deals.
FR Rewards app allows quick cardless transactions
One advantage of using the FR Rewards app is that you’ll be able to pay for transactions on the go. FR Reward’s payment function integrates your card details into Food Republic’s system, meaning that after you key in your card details the first time, you’ll be able to make payment with a few quick taps.
Convenience: ✅.
Our favourites from Food Republic City Square Mall
If you can’t wait to redeem your $1, swing by City Square Mall’s Food Republic and give these dishes a go!
1. Brisket King Beef Noodles
Find comfort this rainy December at Brisket King Beef Noodles. Robustly flavoured, the 3 Types of Meat Noodles Soup ($9) hit all the right spots with its herby broth. The chunks of beef were also extremely tender, and slurping up the silky smooth rice noodles made it a whole lot better.
This stall is halal-certified too, so everyone can have a satisfying meal here.
2. Erawan Thai Cuisine
Run by a chef from Thailand, Erawan Thai Cuisine pushes out Thai grub that will make you reminisce your foodie trip to Bangkok. The Tom Yum Soup ($6.50) is as tangy as it is fiery, and comes teeming with prawns, fresh fish and mushrooms.
On the other hand, the Chicken Basil Leaf with Rice ($6.50) is redolent in spices and is 100% delicious. For a top-up of $3, you can add on a refreshing Mango Salad to complete your meal.
3. Gu Zao Wei
Share a plate of fried goodies at Gu Zao Wei, which sells wu xiang along with other noodle dishes such as laksa and lor mee. They have over 20 items for you to pick from, including ngoh hiang ($1.80), Chinese sausage ($2.50) and spring roll ($1.80). Be sure to get a side of their nutty chill sauce and pink sweet sauce to dip your yummy nosh in.

Personally, the best part about this app is its easy payment system. Since I can tokenize my DBS and POSB cards as well as DBS PayLah!, I no longer have to find an ATM to draw out money before scoring a meal here!
