Youth Corps Singapore’s Do Good Fest

From helping to guide children in their literacy skills and coding concepts to supporting seniors and people with special needs, here’s how you can do good and feel it too.

Help to guide children in coding concepts & reading skills

If you’re passionate about working with children, this one’s for you.

During a KidsLearn session, you’ll get to tutor preschoolers in spelling, grammar, and pronunciation through fun games and lessons. The programme is offered year-round and across 7 neighbourhoods such as Ang Mo Kio and Telok Blangah, so you’ll be able to find a location that’s convenient for you.

If you’re a tech wiz, sign up to help older kids build coding skills through online games. However, those without coding experience can still participate and might even learn a thing or two about the basics of coding concepts.

Support seniors & those with special needs

At Youth Corps Singapore’s Do Good Fest, you’ll also have the opportunity to support seniors and people with special needs.

Come befriend the elderly and show them how to operate a tablet to monitor their health, book appointments on the HealthHub app, and do arts and crafts. Alternatively, guide people with special needs on public transport or bond with trainees at ASPN Centre For Adults over activities and games.

Depending on the programme, you’re required to commit anywhere from an hour up to a few days a month. But trust that it’ll help you create wonderful friendships.

Participate in sports & sustainable projects

There are all sorts of roles on offer at the fest, including those that let you do good for the environment.

When you sign up for The Greenies cleanup event, you can lend a helping hand in cleaning up the Jurong Lake. The event runs for 4 hours and you’ll be kayaking your way around the lake to collect as much waste as possible. By doing so, you’ll be able to keep wildlife safe from plastic debris and squeeze in an arm workout at the same time.

For more sporty volunteer opportunities, enrol yourself into the exercise programmes with migrant brothers. Let your badminton or table tennis talent shine as you compete with the migrant workers in a few rounds of ball games.

Volunteer at the Youth Corps Singapore’s Do Good Fest

Whether you’re a people person or a green god/goddess, there’s a volunteering opportunity at Do Good Fest that matches your passion.

Those interested in giving their time can scan the list of programmes on the Do Good Fest website. Or, show up at the Youth Corps Community Fair at The Red Box near Somerset MRT between 11am and 5pm on 16th July 2023 to browse all the voluntary work and workshops in person. You’ll be able to filter them based on causes, dates, and commitment levels.
