As you step into the Disney Garden of Wonder showcase at Floral Fantasy, take a closer look at Stitch, Mickey Mouse, and Snow White. These aren’t just larger-than-life statues; over 6,000 preserved flowers across 40 species have been used to recreate the characters into stunning plant structures.

Take Ariel and Flounder for example; The Little Mermaid characters have been assembled using various horticultural curiosities. Purple hydrangeas are featured in Ariel’s seashell top while yellow hydrangeas make up Flounder’s body. You might also notice fan palms used to create her tail fins and a species of red cascading flowers for her signature tresses.

Here’s a fun fact: it took over 17,000 manhours to put together each Disney and Pixar character by hand. However, you’ll just need about an hour to see the entire Disney Garden of Wonder, even if you snap a photo with every floral sculpture. There are altogether 8 sets to look out for.

Other familiar characters to spot include Steamboat Willie; Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc.; and Carl, Russell, and Dug from Up.

While the characters are on our island, there had to be some local aspect to the exhibition. And so you’ll find a local take in the Flavours of Singapore zone. Here, Donald Duck, Stitch, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck are seen trying our culinary favourites – Chilli Crab, Durian, and Ice Kachang.

Anyone who has been to Epcot theme park in Disney World Florida might know that Disney Garden of Wonder is inspired by its International Flower & Garden Festival. Now, you won’t have to travel all the way to the USA to see these cherished Disney characters reimagined as topiary sculptures.

Psst… as you walk through the waterfall, look out for a familiar shape projected onto the stream of water.

Is Gardens by the Bay free entry?

While entry to the outdoor gardens is free, there are ticketed entries to go inside Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, and Floral Fantasy where Disney Garden of Wonder is being held.
