2. Afterwit – Mexican food with Indian influences
Afterwit is a cosy Halal-certified diner which serves Mexican cuisine with Southeast Asian influences.

Expect an interesting blend of Mexican and Indian flavours with their Brisket Biryani Burritos ($19 nett) – besides the traditional guacamole, pico de gallos and black beans, the beef brisket and biryani rice are doused dalcha curry and wrapped in papadum instead of tortilla.
Loyal patrons will tell you that the diner serves up a mean taco and wings, with a favourite being Jalapeno Wings ($10 nett), which are spicy without bordering on blazing hot.

The Rainforest Remedy drink contains distinctly herby ingredients like Sage Gin, Trigona Honey, and is served in what looks to be a decorative vase. Talk about bizarre. The other items on the cocktail menu include M.C. – N.L. ($24), a drink which resembles a potted plant, and Mighty Duck ($20), which is actually rum served in a bird’s nest.

10. Xiao Ya Tou – wagyu lu rou fan
Xiao Ya Tou, a luxurious restrobar on Duxton Hill, gives your favourite local dishes a fusion upgrade. For one, they serve otak-otak served in phyllo – a flaky Middle Eastern pastry dough often used for baklava.
