Affordable rental cars for every occasion

With Singapore’s extensive public transport network, saving for a car is something that we’ve all thrown to the back of our minds – after all, we’ve our HDBs to scrimp for. But there are occasions like Raya visiting or taking a road trip to JB that call for the convenience of our own vehicle.

When the need of having a car starts to outweigh here are 10 cars you can rent fuss-free and at the best prices from Automo – a newly launched Expedia of automobile rentals, which scans through existing car dealerships’ deals and recommends the best ones for you, sorted by car type, price, and license requirements.

Favourite cars-next-door

1. Toyota Vios – $52/night

Most of us would have driven a Toyota Vios before back at CDC, so if you’ve developed a soft spot for the car, or simply are a creature of habit, you can rent the Toyota Vios for a steal at $52 a day, with a minimum lease of 1 month.

Do the math, and this translates to just $360 a week, and a sweet $1.5k a month. With low fuel consumption, the automatic sedan (1500cc) also has insurance included when you rent it.

Note: Renter must have a local driver’s license with a minimum 2 years of road experience, be at least 25 years of age, and pay $500 deposit. Delivery of the car to your location is also available for just $30.

2. Subaru Impreza – $60/night

The Subaru Impreza is almost a household name here in Singapore, thanks to the annual Mediacorp Subaru Impreza Challenge. For just $60 a day, you can rent this sporty-looking vehicle and be on your way to cruising down the Causeway for a quick getaway with your friends.

Besides, the 1500cc manual sedan is well-known for its impressive safety features – which are always good to have, especially on a road trip. There are a grand total of 6 airbags, electronic braking aids, stability control, and an all-wheel-drive system that gives the car good handlingl.

Do note that the Subaru Impreza has comparatively high fuel consumption, with user reviews estimating that you’ll get about 9-10km per litre of petrol – although for the safety it provides, it’s a fair trade.

Note: Drivers with P-Plate and international licence allowed. $100 deposit and $30 surcharge upon entry to Malaysia. Insurance included, with insurance excess of $3.5k. Delivery of the car to your location is also available for just $30.

Plus, the Proton Persona is a Malaysian car that’s popular among locals, which will help you to blend in.

Note: Drivers with P-Plate and international licence allowed. $100 deposit and $30 surcharge upon entry to Malaysia. Insurance included, with insurance excess of $3.5k. Delivery of the car to your location is also available for just $30.
