– ActiveSG –

ActiveSG courts are perhaps the most popular among shuttlers in Singapore. They have facilities across the island, the most affordable prices, and a free membership that comes with $100 worth of credits. Below is a guide on where to book a badminton court on their platform.

How to book an ActiveSG badminton court

Upon entering the ActiveSG website, toggle to the top right corner of the screen and click on “Book”. From there, those with accounts will be prompted to log in with their SingPass, email, mobile or NRIC, and new members can sign up for free.

If you log in before 31st December 2025, you’ll also receive $100 worth of ActiveSG credits as part of Budget 2025, which you can use to book badminton courts.

Once you’re in, select “Bookings” from the dropdown menu on the top right of the page. Here, you’ll get an overview of your upcoming bookings, but if you don’t have any, click on “Book a facility” to book a slot. Select “Badminton” and you’ll be brought to a list of ActiveSG badminton courts you can book. You can also key in your postal code to view the courts nearest to your home.

Each slot on ActiveSG is an hour long.

One thing to note about booking courts on ActiveSG is that they have recently introduced a balloting system, where users will have to place ballots when booking courts during peak timings. You’ll be notified of your results before 12pm the day after placing your ballots. As for court timings that fall outside peak hours, you’ll be able to book them normally, but do note that they also get snapped up pretty quickly.

If no slots appear at all, it probably means that the venue is either fully booked or is hosting a full-day event that day.

Pro tip: Plan your play session ahead of time and set your alarms for when slot timings release. Balloting for peak hour slots opens 14 days in advance, and you can place ballots anytime within a 24-hour window. You can also ask your family members to help ballot for slots for a better chance at securing them. As for non-peak slots, bookings open 12 days in advance starting at 12pm.

Our Tampines Hub’s badminton hall is the largest of the ActiveSG family, and just a 6-minute walk from Tampines MRT. It has 20 nicely spaced out courts, plenty of bright lights, and clean changing rooms and toilets. If you’ve worked up a sweat, you can also rinse off at the Community Auditorium’s showering facility on Level 3.

Speaking of which, Our Tampines Hub also plays host to other amenities such as a small shopping space called Festive Mall. There are a couple of eateries there as well as a food court to refuel after your games, and if you’re looking for new gear, visit Flymax (#01-98). It’s located on the first level of the mall and apart from selling rackets, shoes, and apparel, they also have restringing services should your strings snap during gameplay.

2. Clementi Sports Hall – Water coolers & nearby hawker centre

Clementi Sports Hall is close behind in size, with 16 courts, smooth wooden flooring, and a few water coolers inside the arena. After you’ve finished racquet-eering, fill up on some of the West’s bests at nearby Clementi hawker stalls.

3. Bukit Canberra – Some of the newest courts in Singapore

Bukit Canberra has 8 badminton courts in Singapore that also double as basketball, pickleball, and table tennis arenas. If you’re peckish after an intensive round, there’s an 800-seat hawker centre on the ground floor of the hub.

– SAFRA –

While SAFRA is known to be a very “guy’s” thing – given that it’s open to all SAF, NSmen, and servicemen – non-SAFRA members can still access some of the club’s amenities. And if your husband has a SAFRA membership, you can also sign up for one under the SAFRA Family Scheme, which is for spouses and children under 20 years old. Here’s where to book a badminton court with them.

How to book a SAFRA badminton court

Booking a badminton court at SAFRA, Singapore just requires you to go to the SAFRA website, log in, and select one of the 3 badminton halls that they have. Do take note that this privilege is only reserved for SAFRA members; guests can only book courts in person. Also, SAFRA’s courts also open all the way till 1am, perfect for busy shuttlers who can’t quite play during the day.

Although SAFRA’s courts are mostly exclusive to its members, they still get fully booked pretty quickly. As such, download the SAFRA App (App Store | Google Play) so you can book courts on the go. Also, their courts are available for booking 1 week in advance, and bookings open at 7am.

Pro tip: Joining badminton interest groups such as those on Facebook and Telegram might help you find fellow badminton addicts to play with, some of whom might have SAFRA membership.

Best SAFRA courts:

1. SAFRA Toa Payoh – Windy, but won’t affect shuttlecock trajectory

SAFRA Toa Payoh has a total of 3 badminton courts sprawled across classic wooden flooring. While some halls can get a bit stuffy, this one has a refreshing breeze once you open the doors – and no, the wind won’t affect the shuttlecock’s flight path.

Round off a family fitness day by bringing the kids down to the newly opened Play at Heights park that has ziplines, trampolines, and splash zones. You can also buy a ticket for entry to Kidz Amaze.

The badminton hall here has been noted to be especially stuffy though – great for ensuring your shuttlecocks don’t fly about erratically, but do bring a spare shirt or 2 to deal with the sweat.

Coupled with its 5mm-thick, non-slip mats, lofty ceilings, and shower facilities, it’s definitely one of the more premium courts out there.

So don’t come and play more than badminton, and say you can’t book courts anymore. If all else fails, you can always play at your neighbourhood’s outdoor courts. Good luck, fellow shuttler!
