First Look At ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre – Infinity Pool, Pickleball Courts & Massive Gym

ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre in Punggol

It really feels like they’re playing favourites when it comes to new openings in the heartlands. Of course, we’re talking about the North-East; from Punggol Coast Mall to autonomous self-driving shuttles, those residing at the tail-end of the purple line have been getting a steady stream of shiny new amenities to call their own as of late.

And now, they’ve got one more to lay claim to: the new ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre. Initially slated for a 2023 opening, it’s finally in its soft launch phase, which means it’s open to the public as we speak. So, we popped by to check it out; here’s everything the sporty amongst us can get excited about that warrants an early visit.

How to get to ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre?

ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre entrance

The ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre is pretty accessible, especially if you’re already residing in the North-East. Located a stone’s throw from One Punggol and SAFRA Punggol, hop on a train from the Punggol LRT station and alight at the very next station on the West Loop, Sam Kee LRT station. Take a 3-minute walk, and you’ll arrive at the sports centre in a jiffy.

Alternatively, you can take bus no. 84W, 117, 117M, 382, or 382G and alight at the Opp One Punggol bus stop (stop ID: 65481), which will put you right in front of the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre. Plenty of parking is available at the facility too; even if it gets full during peak hours, you can opt to park your vehicle at the nearby One Punggol car park.

Although the walk over to the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre from Punggol MRT station is just 10 minutes, there’s heavy construction work taking place along Punggol Place Road as of writing. As such, we recommend getting there via public transport for now to avoid additional detours.

What is the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre?

Initially scheduled for completion in 2023, the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre is a part of Singapore’s Sports Facilities Master Plan, which was a key initiative of Vision 2030 – our national sports blueprint that seeks to foster a healthier, more inclusive society through sports while developing high-performance athletes.

Delays were spurred on by the pandemic, but fast-forward a couple of years, and the facility is currently in its soft launch phase, with its official opening happening on 22nd November 2026. Almost all of the sports centre’s facilities are open to the public, and you’ll be able to book them via the ActiveSG website. Simply log in with your Singpass account, and you can book them or buy swim or gym passes for your visit.

Be sure to check if you’ve got remaining ActiveSG credits, as you can use them to pay for your bookings and passes. Do note that ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre’s swimming complex, futsal courts, and football stadium are currently not open to the public; they’ll be opening sometime in November 2026.

What to expect at the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre?

With 6 floors of sporty facilities to take in, there’s much to do at the new ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre. We’ve broken down all of their offerings; here’s what you can expect at each one, starting from the ground up.

Level 1: Football Stadium & Swimming Complex

One of the more impressive inclusions at the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre is their massive football stadium. It’s not any plain ol’ pitch; this stadium can fit up to 5,000 spectators in its grandstands, comparable to the one over at Our Tampines Hub.

Football stadium

It even comes equipped with powerful floodlights that are designed to meet international football standards – perhaps a sign that it’ll potentially play host to major competitions like the Singapore Premier League in the future. However, you can’t personally lace up for your own games on the artificial pitch just yet, as bookings are not currently available.

Swimming complex

Also located on Level 1 is the swimming complex, another standout feature of the facility. It has 4 different swimming pools, catering to folks who want to take their swimming seriously, recreational swimmers, and waddling tots at the same time.

There’s a sheltered, 8-lane swimming pool to swim laps around, along with a similar outdoor pool for swimmers to soak in the sun as they work on their strokes. Nearby, there’s a shallow water play area complete with tunnels and slides that’s bound to be a hotspot for kids.

Infinity Pool

But stealing the spotlight is the swimming complex’s 50m-long infinity pool. The views here are stellar too; while the world-famous one at MBS unlocks aerial views of the Singapore skyline, this one overlooks the verdant green of Punggol Waterway Park. But your swimming sessions here will have to wait for now, as the swimming complex will only be open next month.

Level 2: Gym & Gym activity rooms

Level 2 is where you’ll find the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre’s gym, and boy, is it huge. It’s probably one of the biggest ones you’d find on the island, and it’s an absolute haven for anyone looking to clock in a solid workout.

You’ve got treadmills, rowers, and stationary bikes all facing the beautiful Punggol waterfront, making sweating up a storm a little more bearable. There’s a big functional area demarcated with green turf near the entrance, providing ample space for dynamic movements like lunges, sled pushes, and box jumps, with medicine balls and kettlebells all available on a nearby rack.

Gym rats will definitely be pleased with the extensive selection of fitness machines and free wights. Pin-loaded and plate-loaded machines are aplenty, and appropriately spaced apart so you won’t feel claustrophobic getting your sets in. For your essential lifts, power racks are also available here, along with a handy Smith machine, to smash your PBs with.

When you need to take a breather, there’s a lounge area with seats to cool down at too. Should you need to freshen up after your workout, quite a few washrooms around the sports centre are equipped with showers for a quick rinse.

Also worth mentioning are the gym activity rooms, also located on Level 2. They don’t seem to be in use yet, but we can envision fitness classes like Pilates and yoga being held within them in the near future. BTW, there’s free entry to the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre gym from now till 31st October 2026, so there’s no better time than now to swing by for a look.

Level 3: Team Sport Hall, Indoor Sport Hall & Sheltered Courts

Pickleball courts

Level 3 is where you’ll want to make a beeline for when you’ve got games of pickleball, tennis, and badminton lined up. At the Sheltered Hall, you’ll come across 3 tennis courts and 6 pickleball courts to host your intense rallies. Although the hall is not air-conditioned, you’ll still be well-shielded from the elements, so the on-court action won’t be halted by poor weather.

Basketball court

For rounds of basketball and volleyball, head to the Team Sport Hall. We counted 2 whole volleyball courts and 1 basketball court, plus a retractable grandstand that can seat a sizable audience should the occasion call for it.

Badminton courts

As for shuttlers, the Indoor Sport Hall has 13 badminton courts, all available for booking. Surprisingly, when we checked the ActiveSG website, there were quite a few courts still unoccupied, including ones during peak hour slots. Perhaps the larger populace has yet to realise that the ones here are all up for grabs; thankfully, now you know.

Level 5M: Futsal Courts

It’s a bittersweet moment for fans of footie. The ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre does indeed have 2 gorgeous futsal courts for players to have a kickabout, but for now, they remain out of bounds as you can’t make bookings for them yet.

Futsal courts

The courts here are fitted with nets, so you won’t have to worry about punting balls into the pools below. Plus, the fact that it’s a couple of stories up means that there’ll be a nice breeze during your games. If the heat’s still getting to you, you can grab a drink at the conveniently placed vending machines nearby.

Level 6: Archery Field

Archery field

On the top level of the sport centre, a sprawling archery field can be found. Don’t get your hopes up yet; unfortunately, the space is reserved only for Team Singapore’s archers to train at. While we can’t take aim ourselves, we might be able to sneak a peek at our national athletes in action when they practice drawing their bows here.

Basement 1: Slides, Table Tennis Room & Water Sport Centre

Back down on ground level, Basement 1 of the sports centre has more kid-friendly spots that families can enjoy on a day out. For starters, there are 4 slides here, 2 of which descend all the way from Level 1.

Slides

The speed at which you whoosh down is nothing to be scoffed at, so we recommend sliding down with long pants to prevent any abrasions. Meanwhile, the 2 smaller slides at the foot of the steps are better suited for younger children to get their fair share of thrills. There’s also a slope fitted with holds and ropes to ascend too, in case the kids still have energy in the tank.

Water play area

For some comfort from the blazing sun, a small, outdoor water play area is just opposite the slides, with spouts and streams to wade through on a hot day.

Boardwalk

When it’s cool enough for a stroll, the boardwalk that the park connector borders provides great waterfront views of the opposite greenery. A Water Sport Centre is located further down, but it doesn’t seem to be open yet; give it some time, and perhaps we’ll be able to spend an afternoon kayaking or canoeing in the waters down below.

Table Tennis room

On the other hand, the Table Tennis Rooms nearby are already open. We counted 4 tables in total, each separated by ceiling-to-floor nets so stray balls don’t end up disrupting your neighbours.

Plan a visit to the new ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre

With the opening of this impressive sports hub, it seems like the rising star that is Punggol still has a long way to go before it continues booming. Moreover, there are still a good few weeks before the ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre officially opens, so we’re sure it’ll become a major crowd magnet once facilities like the futsal courts and swimming pools start welcoming visitors.
