PokéPark Kanto: Pokemon Theme Park in Yomiuriland, Japan
Time to load up on Pokéballs, ’cos you’ll wanna catch ’em all at Pokémon’s first ever permanent theme park, PokéPark Kanto, opening in Japan on 5th February 2026. The new park is set to take up a 26,000 sqm space within one of Tokyo’s largest theme parks, Yomiuriland – the entry into which is included in the PokéPark Kanto ticket. Here’s what we know so far.
What is PokéPark Kanto?
Most of us know Kanto as a region in Japan that houses Tokyo, but it’s also a big deal in the Pokémon universe, being the game’s first region to be introduced back in the OG edition in the 90s. As such, this is pretty much the perfect place to house the franchise’s first theme park.

This new Pokémon theme park in Japan is nestled in Tama Hills and will comprise 2 main zones: Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest. And the best part? Ash Ketchums in-the-making can look forward to spotting over 600 Pokémon sprawled all around the park’s forest area.
What to expect at PokéPark Kanto?

Expect Sedge Town to be the go-to spot for picking up merch and meeting fellow fans, with a Pokémon Trainer’s Market, Pokémon Center, Poké Mart, and Sedge Gym. It’ll also be the venue for various live performances and Pokémon appearances.

For example, look out for the Pika Pika Sparks! Performance – a light and music show by Pikachu and friends, along with other performers. The show will take place in the Sedge Gym at 11.50am, 1pm, 3.35pm and 4.45pm, though the opening hours and dates are subject to change.

Don’t miss the Pika Vee Bubble Parade going through Sedge Town twice a day – all trainers young and old are welcome, so do your best to catch a selfie together with one of the larger-than-life Pokémon. The parade will happen at 1.25pm and 4pm.
Besides these performances, you can also jump on 2 exciting Pokémon-powered rides. The Vee Vee Voyage is a carriage and balloon carousel ride that goes from ¥1,200 (~ S$10.01) for adults and ¥800 (~ S$6.67) for children. The Pika Pika Paradise ride runs on over 30 Electric-type Pokémon and costs ¥1,200 (~ S$10.01) for adults and ¥800 (~ S$6.67) for children.
Simply purchase a time-designated ticket from the mobile ticket kiosk in the Pokémon Trainers’ Market, and you’re set.
Pokémon Forest

Meanwhile, those looking to hone their trainer skills can head over to Pokémon Forest, where you’ll get to spot adorable Pokémon in the wild, going about their day in their natural habitats. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as this forest is full of steep hills, stairs, and tunnels for a true wilderness experience.

To help visitors meander their way through the gorgeous greenery, there’ll even be 500m-long walking trails that let you get up close and personal with beloved characters like Pikachu and Eevee. BTW, the Pokémon in this theme park in Japan are said to change with the seasons, so you might spot rare ones depending on the time of year you visit.
Do note that children below the age of 5 and those who cannot climb 110 steps without assistance are not permitted to enter this forest due to the more difficult terrain.
Pokémon Playhouse

If you’re looking for something less physical, you can meet the iconic Psyduck at the Pokémon Playhouse, where different Pokémon will pop in to say hello depending on the day. The scheduled lineup of creatures include the Psyduck, Slowpoke, Clefairy, and Vulpix, so try and guess which one you’ll see on the day of your trip.

Tickets for this Pokémon theme park in Japan currently come in 2 types – the Trainer’s Pass and the Ace Trainer’s Pass, with the third Town Pass being released in summer 2026. All tickets are currently sold out till March 2026; more tickets for April 2026 and later will release on 1st January 2026 around 6pm JST.

The ticket pricing is split into 4 categories: Adult, Child, Senior, and Person with Disabilities. Only those with the Ace Trainer’s Pass can access the Sedge Condominiums for a meet-and-greet with Pikachu and Eevee.
Entry into some shops and shows will require a limited-access ticket, which you can apply for via the Official PokéPark Kanto App (App Store | Google Play) after entering Yomiuriland.
