Yummy Beef Patty
I was introduced to this place by my cousin. There are "All Day Breakfast" and various flavours of burgers for us to choose from. We were really spoilt for choice and took like 20 minutes to decide our order?!
After much struggle, we ordered the Signature Breakfast and the "High on Shrooms" burger. The Signature breakfast tasted great, but worth mentioning was the "High on Shrooms" burger. The Wagyu beef patty was one of the best I've tasted, and the truffle fries was really nice. No doubt the food is delicious, but I find the price a bit steep. I guess that's 'Dempsey'!
Chanced upon Roadhouse @ dempsey one Saturday afternoon as our initial plans to head somewhere else did not work out. I was so glad we stepped into roadhouse. The place was rather packed at 2pm on a Saturday but nevertheless, we were seated in 10 minutes.
The burgers on the menu was extensive as we had trouble deciding which to order. I was even more distracted thanks to the brunch menu served on weekends. In the end, we settled for both the burger and eggs benedict. We opted for an upgrade to truffle fries too. The burger was nicely arranged on a chop board with the fries served at the side. The beef patty was thick! One bite into it and the juice started dripping out. Oh what a mess. A joyful mess that is. The truffle fries were pretty good too! Though the portion was slightly tiny.
The eggs benedict however, was average. Pretty pricey in fact. Overall, roadhouse serves really decent burgers and I would head back for more if I'm craving for burgers.
Another American diner — yay!
Their deal of free flow truffle fries was what attracted me to this diner in the first place (I’m not sure if it’s still on, do check it out). The ambiance of the diner makes it a good spot to chill, especially on weekday afternoons when Dempsey is fairly deserted.
Of course, the burgers were the highlight of the meal and I thoroughly enjoyed them, despite the long waiting time (which my friend and I took good advantage of the truffle fries deal). Yummy! When the burgers arrived, however, our appetites were already rather appeased by the fries. All in all, Roadhouse ought to be patronized at least once for their simple comfort food.
I was treated to a dinner here by friends and that was my first time there. As part of the Prive group, one could expect the food here to be gourmet, but a little pricey.
The overall ambiance of the small restaurant was cosy, intimate, but also casual at the same time. A great place to hang out with friends, The restaurant had a very rustic finish which I liked very much. There were not many people around, probably because it was a Monday night.
The burger I had was simply divine. The beef patty was cooked medium rare for maximum flavour, and it went so well with the pear and brie that was sandwiched between two beautifully toasted buns. The portion was rather big, and I couldn't have finished it if I hadn't shared it with my friends. The succulent burger was only made possible by the usage of the Josper Grill, a grill that the restaurant is known for.
After the burger, my friend chose to have a s'more ice cream cake to share. Although I was filled up, I had a few mouthfuls to taste, because the cake looked too good to resist. It was heavenly and ended our dinner at Roadhouse on a good note.
Good for desserts
I like that this place continues serving its usual lunch menu on top of a brunch menu on weekends. Good for those who don't fancy the likes of eggs benedict on a weekend afternoon. My friend and I tried the seafood wrap and the baby back ribs. Seafood wrap was quite good and comes with 3 kinds of sauce, which I think are avocado mousse, sour cream and some tomato based sauce. They were quite generous with the seafood but I couldn't taste much of the mango.
As for the ribs, it wasn't fall off the bone tender. It was actually quite tough at certain parts. It is a must to order desserts here. They have the best desserts! The chocolate brownie was really good with the Valrhona chocolate sauce. It was so decadent but not too cloying. I loved every bite of it!
Roadhouse, somewhere on dempsey hill. It's not too hard to find. I like this place because it didn't market itself out to be very atas so it makes me feel like I can go there in tshirt, shirts and slippers and not be judged. I wanted to try the breakfast but it wasn't available :(
We had quesadillas (my friend and I) and IT WAS SO GOOD! We order a second serving although our stomachs were already bursting. The first one we had which was delicious is the chicken one. The second one was the mushroom one which was okay only.
My poached eggs were overpoached though the yolk wasn't runny at all. :( The only downside!
