Many neighbourhood shops
The first time I went to this place was probably more than 10 years ago when I went there with my ex and her family for a meal. It was a place with a really big hawker centre, wet market and a big stretch of small shops. Back then the NEL had not appeared and it was more of a rustic place.
Now this place has been renovated and is no longer as shabby as before. The hawker centre and the stretch has all been upgraded with new furnishings. The place as still as crowded as ever, and it was still really difficult to find a place to sit.
Although I can no longer remember what stalls were still present from 10 years ago, I had a plate of really fragrant chicken rice from one of the old and traditional looking stalls there. It was so good that I had an extra serving of rice just to get more of the rice. There are many more stalls that looked like there have been there for a long time, and usually these are stalls that I liked to visit when I am at such older hawkers, as the food would usually taste much better.
Small but consists of many things.
I am sure most people have not heard of this place. It is located beside Boon Keng mrt station. This is one of the most economical shopping mall as the products you find here are cheap. The Value Shop is where you can find a lot of cheap snacks. There is a hawker centre beside the mall which also sells tasty and good food. Due to the fact that it is an open-air mall, some may just smoke while sitting down to take a rest or chatting which resulted to slightly bad air condition. Overall, it is still a very convenient place to get most necessities.
Ideal place for food!
Most people would consider shopping malls to be air-conditioned. Bendemeer Shopping Mall is not, but it is capable of keeping shoppers cool with fans and superb ventilation. My favourite food over at the mall itself is the 'Bak Kut Teh' and 'Sesame Oil Chicken' that a stall serves.
The prices of goods sold there are also quite affordable. The downside, however, is that the mall's cleanliness is not properly maintained. The seats at the mall are often littered with used tissue paper, and the bins seem to be always full. The seats also have brown stains (probably from a drink), which might disgust a cleanliness freak. The floor, though, is mysteriously clean.
Despite all the problems, the mall offers products and services that are economic. Take a trip there and you might like it!
