Established in 1953, St. Gabriel's Secondary School is a local government-aided Catholic school founded by the Brothers of St. Gabriel's.

The school is currently being managed and administered by the St. Gabriel's Foundation. The foundation was incorporated by the Brothers of St.Gabriel's in September 2001 to take over the running of the various schools and Gabrielite institutions in both Singapore and Malaysia.

The objectives of the St. Gabriel's Foundation is to provide continuity to the Gabrielite mission; providing education and assisting it's pupils to grow up as morally upright citizens, to help it's pupils who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. Also, to build students instilled with the school's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Care. In doing so, the Foundation seeks to carry on the good works of the Brothers of the St. Gabriel.

Always a Gabrielite !

Have just recently graduated from St Gabriels Secondary School and I can truly say that it is a great school which not only focuses on academics but on character and leadership development.

Initially, after received my posting results, I was kind of disappointed and had appealed to another school. But when the school I had appeal to accepted me, I rejected the offer as I had already joined a CCA and made some new friends. I will explain why this proved to be a right choice after all.

Firstly, when i first got into St Gabriel's, i was a quiet and reserved student. I never thought that i would have gotten to where i am today, an outspoken leader. The school provided me with numerous opportunities to lead and serve, for example, being an Orientation group leader which allowed me to interact with the juniors and step out of my comfort zone. I was also provided the opportunity to do Overseas CIP ( OCIP ) in Malaysia. The school places emphasis on Servant Leadership which essentially means to serve others, and it is not because you are someone lowly, but rather to imbue a sense of volunteerism and community spirit. In other words, to develop one's character.

Secondly, the teachers at St Gabriels are always willing to help out when you approach them, despite the fact that some of them do not even teach you nor know you ! The teachers are truly selfless and would often offer their help even after school hours. They are always glad to help, even if you need help in other things that are not academically related, for example, stress management. The teachers will try their best to guide and advice you. Hence, most students not only think of them as teachers, but also mentors.

Thirdly, the school has numerous programmes in place to ensure that one does well in O levels, that is if one is willing to put in the hard work and effort. Teachers offer remedial lessons, tests and even consultations during holidays and after school. Furthermore, there is also a mentorship program which allow students to receive guidance from a specific teacher of their choice which will help them in setting goals for O levels, ways to achieve those goals and support them emotionally and mentally, considering that it is a relatively stressful period.

Lastly, the school does not only prepare one to be academically smart. All the CCAs offer leadership roles which develops the students into servant leaders and active citizens in the community. The teachers will enable students to make efficient decisions on their own and not only be someone who does whatever he is told.

I had a truly great time in the school, and although there are ups and downs, it is worth it ! Without challenges, how will one learn and grow ?

The StGabs experience

I have just graduated from st gabriel's secondary school. In my secondary school life, I have encountered teachers, some who were passionate about their jobs, but others who were only concerned in earning an income from it, and were not ready to help their students at all. At the same, I have forged friendships with bonds so tight that I have never experienced before, especially since I hail from a Boys' school, the spirit of brotherhood is very strong.

Secondary school life for me was not just about studying, but also gaining experiences which I would never forget. The annual CCA trips I have participated is my most memorable part in my secondary school life, as not only was I exposed to the cultures of other countries, but a strong bond as created between me and my CCA mates. Despite all the enjoyable and enriching experiences of my secondary school life, there were dark and stressful moments. In the last lap of secondary school life, I had to sit for the "O" Levels which would be a key to determining my future. It was a period of stress and anxiety, as I knew the importance of my "O" Level results. At the end of the exams, I felt a sense of accomplishment as I was able to complete all my papers with confidence of doing well.

My secondary school life was enjoyable and memorable, but it had also exposed me to the dark side of people, and has given me stress at times.

Incredible community in a Boys school!

Being a student of St Gabriel's Secondary, you will not find a school like St Gabriel's Secondary. Once you step into the school, you will become a Gabrielite. And as the saying goes, once a Gabrielite always a Gabrielite!

Becoming a Gabrielite is a wonderful experience, you can immediately feel the care and brotherhood among the teachers and students. Teachers are willing to stay back after school to help you understand the subjects better. Peers are ready to be your friend anytime! Just say hi and you're friends!

This school really has no gangsters or any of that sort. It is all about brotherhood. No doubt many might choose to stay and hang-out among their own cliques, we are all somehow connected in a way.

The Secondary 1 Orientation Camp is the perfect program me for freshmen to break the ice and make new friends in a new environment they are about to step into hence i feel that such programmes are essential for ensuring camaraderie among students of a school.

Strongly recommend this school to all male graduating primary school students to join this school!
