Rejuvenate and Staycate at Grand Park City Hall

We were thrilled to be invited to Grand Park City Hall to enjoy and review their Family Moments package. We didn't need to be asked twice.

The Family Moments package thoughtfully includes tailored in-room family ameninties like gentle baby toileteries, baby bath tubs, baby cots with bedding and baby towels at no additional charge. There are also food/bottle warmers, bottle sterilizers, baby cots/play pens, strollers and high chairs available upon request to make holidaying with baby effortless and enjoyable. All you have to do is ask. Our kids really loved their room: bright kiddy bedspreads, stuffed animals to hug, little table and chairs, fun bath towels.... talk about wow.

But the best part of it all has got to be the late check out. Ladies and gentlemen, how does 3pm sound? That gave us ample time to enjoy our breakfast, morning swim and squeeze in a nap for the baby, plus lunch. Woohoo! Like everything in every hotel, everything is subject to availability, so remember to ask for whatever you need upon check in!

We had adjoining rooms (when you book under the Family Moments package, the second room is at 50% off) and the kids were really excited about the "special door" - the connecting door. It was fun at first but it was also the reason I didn't sleep well that night. I was really worried that one of them might get up and get her foot caught under the door. So, connecting rooms - great for young kids who sleep through the night, or older, more independant kids.

Also, the aircon in the kids' room was really cold even when set to the lowest setting. In the end we turned it off completely, allowing our aircon to cool both rooms. By morning, their room was still nicely cool.

The location is really amazing: So many kid-friendly things to do within walking distance: Explore Fort Canning Hill, the Peranakan Museum, the Philatelic Museum all in a day if you like. The Central Fire Station is just opposite the hotel, and it holds Open Houses every Saturday morning.

I pampered myself (because what is a holiday without pampering?) with the Gold Laval Shell treatment at Spa Park Asia and it was probably the most interesting massage I'd ever had in my life. I was told it's similar to a hot stone massage (which I've never had), but less painful. It wasn't painful at all, in fact, it was really pleasant.

The pool was tiny, but then again, kids aren't so big themselves. So they had a good time splashing around. The jacuzzi is slightly hidden, and in comparison, rather big for a jacuzzi. The water though was hot, like kinda-makes-you-feel-like-a-lobster-in-a-pot kind of hot. But everyone got used to it after a while.

Plenty of dining options but we had all our meals at Indulge at Park. There's a nice bbq going in the evenings and there's a huge dessert selection.

The courtyard was one of my favourite places as well. I kept getting drawn toward it. It's the charm of the restored century-old shop houses, I tell you. It's funny how the hotel is situated right along a busy road, but the noise doesn't reach the hotel's compounds. With all the greenery, it's hard to believe we're right at the road.

The only thing I did not like about the room was the bathmat. You know, one of those plastic mats with lots of little sucker-like things at the bottom? That to me was the least 5-star thing and honestly, that thing is impossible to clean. Needless to say, I did not touch it.

* Disclaimer: My family and I received a 2D1N stay at the Grand Park City Hall with all meals and a spa treatment for me included. I received no monetary compensation for this post; all photos and opinions (and blissfully un-knotted shoulder muscles) are mine.
