Galbiati is tucked away at the corner of Rail Mall, which itself is tucked away to the side of a busy road. Walking in, one gets greeted with an aroma of bread and various food items.
There is a selection of wine and other liquor as well, and there are many different deli items on display. A mini fridge houses a few cakes, which seems to me a reflection of the fact that it is made fresh and not in bulk.
The place is cozy and softly lit with warm lighting. On a rainy day, one could sit near the glass doors and look at the glass misting up, while enjoying their perfect squid ink pasta.
They serve bread and olive oil even before you order, allowing you to enjoy their freshly baked bread. The food here is not cheap, but it is definitely good. A meal for 2 cost me around $65, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The tiramisu is simply one of the best I have tasted. The only other comparable one that comes to mind is Da Paolo's.
I know where to go when I want good Italian food!
I first heard of Galbiati thanks to my friend, who simply loves cake. He would occasionally purchase a whole cake from Galbiati to share with us. One small cake cost around $12, and tastes simply heavenly, though albeit fattening. The price of their baked goods is pretty reasonable, considering the quality of ingredients used and the delicious aroma and taste accompanied. Thus in comparison to Cedele, where a SLICE of cake can cost around $6-8, here at Galbiati it is way cheaper, and one gets an ENTIRE cake.
Galbiati chocolates are lovely to look at, and fresh and savoury with just the right amount of sweetness. Nom-a-licious :3
Next time I'm at the rail mall again, I would definitely drop by to savour their lunch menu- I've heard that their pizza is delicious, with just the right amount of crust which I like (:
