Geláre is ice cream with real flavour and no artificial ingredients which guarantees to deliver a smile on the face of every ice cream lover. Geláre is an Italian word that means "to freeze" or "congeal" and Italy is where the ice cream originated. The Romans were the first to make it, however an American, Jacob Fussell, perfected the process back in 1851. Geláre has taken the best qualities from both countries and expanded upon them to create a World Class Ice Cream. In Italy, ice cream has much lower air content (over run). Geláre has improved upon this by creating a heavy, dense ice cream with no over run. To achieve this we use specially modified machinery to churn the ice cream. Italy is also famous for intense natural flavours, and Geláre, of course, uses only ALL NATURAL ingredients with absolutely no artificial flavouring, colouring or preservatives. American style ice cream is somewhat creamier than ice cream made in Italy. Geláre has greatly improved the Italian version by changing the cream content making our ice cream unusually smooth. Geláre can be folded into a cup Italian style or scooped into one of our freshly baked cones or served as a topping on a piping hot waffle, freshly baked on the spot. Although Geláre may appear to be more expensive than other ice cream, it is not. A half litre of Geláre weighs more than a litre of most other ice creams. In fact Geláre is actually less expensive than many other lower quality brands by weight, although much higher in quality. Enjoy the product that combines the best qualities of Italian and American ice cream with an Australian twist into what many people believe may be the "Ultimate Ice Cream" - Geláre Ice Cream! To most of us the ideal ice cream is the home-made style, really fine ice cream, made from wholesome, natural ingredients once used in old fashioned, hand-cranked freezers to produce extra-rich home-made products that our parents and grandparents remember so fondly. However, it has always been rather difficult and costly to produce this type of ice cream commercially. With that in mind and knowing that there is a market desperately looking for this type of product we began our search many years ago. After considerable research and experimentation across several countries and with assistance from some of the most experienced professionals in the ice cream industry, we succeeded in modifying ice cream machines, developing flavours and perfecting recipes resulting in a wonderful hybrid that duplicates the old fashioned, home-made ice cream. This exceptionally creamy and uniquely delicious ice cream came to be known as Geláre. A true super-premium ice cream, Geláre is produced with fresh milk and cream, the best available quality ingredients and the latest ice cream manufacturing technology. It is richer in flavour and texture, heavier in weight with no overrun (air content) and excellent shelf life.

Without promotions, Gelare serves amazing waffles at depressing prices.
I’m an ardent lover of waffles, and I can often resist ordering waffles as long as its on the menu. Thankfully, Gelare has a half-price waffle Tuesday that allows me to indulge in waffles without placing too much strain on my wallet.
Served hot, the waffle provides a wonderful contrast to the sweet and cold ice cream. Their waffles is outstanding in that it has a subtle sweetness to it, none of that saccharine doughy taste! It also has a crispy exterior that gives a satisfying crunch when your knife cuts into it, with the lightness of the waffle allowing you to have an entire one to yourself without feeling jelak.
My advice is not to order their chocolate fudge sundae. It’s literally jaw-dropping, in a bad way. For an exorbitant price of $6.90, you get ONE scoop of ice cream with cream and measly bits of cookie crumbs. You’re better off buying a whole tub of Wall’s ice cream!
For waffles that will please both the young and old, Gelare is the place to go! For a poor church mouse like me, I’ll wait for Tuesdays or special promotions to indulge in a treat from Gelare. But if you’ve got enough dough to spend, go ahead and eat it all day err day!
One of the best ice-cream!
Gelare has been one of my favourite ice-cream parlours in Singapore. Its ice-cream is dense and you can tell that it is of good quality. Even though I dislike eating Tiramisu, I actually like its tiramisu flavour the best! I feel that all the flavours that they offer are very distinctive. It also does not feel like it’s been added artificial flavouring. Instead, it feels like they have mixed in the real authentic ingredients to achieve the flavour they catered to us. I also love how their waffles are served fresh and hot. It is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside - just the way i like it. The down side is that it’s not halal, which makes my fellow muslim friends hesitant to buy from there.
I have been eating Gelare for many years now, and their signature waffles are great-tasting. Thick and crispy on the surface, while soft on the inside, the waffles sold at Gelare are simply one of the best I've had. The ice-cream range they offer is also quite extensive, with fan-favourites like Chocolate Chip Cream and Vanilla Ice, ranging to the exotic ones like Cranberry Caramel. Milky and thick, the ice-cream mixes well with the waffles to create a great-tasting dessert anytime!
However, on many occasions I have found the service there wanting. A distinct lack of staff during peak hours leads to a long wait for your order to arrive. Ambience is good, with the setting of a busy ice-cream parlour that is not too busy. Definitely a must-try.
Tuesday, a Gelare Day!!
Why I name Tuesday a Gelare Day? This is because all waffles will be half priced on that day. Hardly, there are places that sell waffles with ice-cream with a variety of favours you can choose from. Personally, I love to share with my friend a waffle, eating it during tea-time or for supper.
For people who do not wish to have a heavy meal, Gelare will be an ideal choice. I have eaten Gelare since 2008, and even till now, I am still enjoying it. As for the service, the waiters/waitress are friendly and are always to help when you require assistance. A mixture of hot waffle with the cold ice-cream, one word to explain. SUPERB !!! A must try for people who have not tried that combination !! Overall rating, 3.5 / 5.
Discounted waffles on Tuesdays a must-go!
Whenever I walk past a Gelare outlet, the sweet scent of freshly baked waffles never fails to make me have a strong craving for them. There are plain waffles and other types (like with chocolate chips) to choose from. After choosing the ice cream flavours, I like to add whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Maple syrup could substitute the chocolate one though. I like the ice cream for its rich and creamy texture which goes very well with warm waffles.
Other than ice cream, Gelare does serve other main course dishes like pasta which tastes average. My friends and I were both amused and surprised when we ordered tea--it was basically a tea sachet in hot water, served with a sugar sachet that had NTUC packaging.
A small taste of ice cream can help you to lower your stress levels almost instantly. Just be careful not to overindulge, or else you might end up in a sugar coma. During my secondary school years, my friends and I would pay a visit to Gelare.
The ice creams are pretty exorbitant so we usually share them. In my experience I found out that weekday late afternoons (except for Tuesday) are the best time to go as there are more available seats. Which brings me to my next point: be prepared to stand in line during the weekends.
If you're new to Gelare, I highly recommend their freshly baked waffles with ice cream. You can choose either one or two scoops. The ice cream is cold and creamy. The waffle's warm and crunchy.
I would also suggest to sign up at for deals via email at sites such as Groupon. You can get for almost half the price. Minor pitfall is that it doesn't happen often.
go on tuesday for half price on waffles!
I am not someone who can tell the difference between a connoisseur ice cream and one which is not. The way I judge an ice cream is just how it taste in my mouth. I don’t know about others, but gelare ice cream in my opinion is sticky and chewy, just the way I like it. I personally dislike milky ice cream of most flavours I’ve tried at Gelare, their taste is just nice.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their waffles. It’s crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. Together with their chocolate ice cream, it’s a perfect match. However, I feel that the price of their waffles ice cream is slightly too high and will only eat it on Tuesday when they have half price on their waffles! However, it’s ALWAYS crowded on Tuesdays and sometimes, the crowd stays till as late as 10pm.
If Gelare has more outlets in Singapore, I would definitely dine there more often! It’s a shame that their city link outlet closed down. My alternate choice for ice cream waffles will be Max Brenner (very ex though!) and udders’ waffles icecream! Given them a try if you love waffles ice cream too!
Great food, at a relatively high price.
Gelare’s waffle ice creams are absolutely fabulous. The waffle is made only when you order it therefore it is warm and enhances the taste of the waffle ice cream. The waffle is quite big, so make sure to share with someone if you’re eating it for dessert! Personally I prefer the chocolate chip waffle, which has small chocolate chips mixed into the waffle, and because the waffle is served warm, the chips are slightly melted and this makes the plain waffle taste great as well! Adding on a scoop of ice cream, serving with whipped cream and chocolate sauce is my personal favourite. In my opinion, the ice cream does not really taste that great, it is slightly thicker and stickier than normal ice cream, which is its specialty.
One important point to note is that their products are quite expensive, with the waffles with ice cream costing slightly over $10. Take note of the Tuesday special where the price of the waffles is halved! This definitely makes it more affordable for students like me.
I recently went to the Vivo City outlet on a weekday afternoon. The staffs are friendly, and they will serve the ice cream once it is done so you do not have to stand there to wait for it to be made.
All in all, Gelare offers good food but at a costly price, unless you go on a Tuesday.
Waffles galore at gelare!
Tired of having those standard lunches at fast food restaurants? Why not try something sweet yet filling for a change? Yes, Gelare answers this question for you!
Offering waffle and ice cream combinations, its flavours are unique and irresistible to the tongue. Recommended flavors include wild strawberry and Swiss chocolate caramel. For both flavors, all I can say is that they are on another level compared to normal commonplace strawberry or chocolate/caramel ice cream brands. The combination of chocolate and caramel simply runs around amok in your mouth while you taste the distinct sweetness of each flavor. Plus, the smell of the freshly baked waffles gently waft in the air as you take a bite, and that really competes the waffle ice cream experience.
But, be warned. For those who don’t really have huge appetites, please share that one whole waffle with another friend! It fills your stomach heavily and it would be such a waste to see such high quality food unfinished!
Aside from Tuesdays (half price special day), Gelare is not so packed so you can find your seats easily without feeling bothered by the crowd. There are window seats too, which lets you gaze into the open as you enjoy your waffles. Such seats also give off a romantic vibe as couples can stay in one corner while enjoying the delicious waffles! In fact, it is not a bad idea to bring your other significant over for Valentine’s Day!
Best Tasting Waffles!
If you want to try the best waffles in town, you should pay a visit to Gelare. One of my favorite places to have Gelare would be Suntec City Shopping Mall. The ambiance is great, an open concept and the setting is really comfortable and relaxing.
I really like their waffles for the thick size and very soft in the inside. I will usually go for plain waffles or with two scoops of ice cream. The ice cream is relatively simple. Nothing that I have a like on. You can choose either chocolate or maple syrup to top it off everything. For two scoops of ice cream on a plain waffles, it will cost less than $20.
But I really like how the waffles is. It's not those soft and soggy type. It's more firm in size, it really holds up the thick shape of the waffles. You may think that there is air trapped inside but it's a no. When you first bite on it, it is very soft and you will get another bite.
What's more interesting, every Tuesday, they will have a 50% discount on all the waffles including plain. For a start, you can try on a Tuesday and see how it goes. You might be hook!
