No ice-cream like B&J's
Ben and Jerry's serve a sapid range of ice cream flavours of your wildest fantasies! Flavours include Cherry Garcia, Turtle Soup, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Half Baked (LOVE THIS), Strawberry Cheesecake (TOPS MY ICE-CREAM LIST), etc. etc. Ben and Jerry's sells ice-cream that is thick and deliciously chewy with a generous dose of sweet sticky fillings. No ice cream you can find in Singapore is like Ben and Jerry's.
Besides ice cream, they also serve waffles and beverages like their ice cream shakes (Strawberry cheesecake is still my fave for shakes). On the downside, desserts from Ben and Jerry's can be too sweet for your palette. I always have to down my throat with water afterwards.
The best place to have Ben and Jerry's would have to be at Dempsey Hill - the largest and prettiest outlet stocking the most merchandises with their iconic hippie van in place and plenty of seats indoor and outdoors (gorgeous swings outdoor). On weekends, you can expect the Dempsey Hill branch to be rather packed though.
Service at Ben and Jerry's is just as sweet. The ice cream girls (usually attractive hehehe) are dedicated and passionate with their ice-cream dream job. They'll take your orders well and serve you promptly.
Free Cone Day
Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream is one of my favourites out of all the specialty ice cream shops. They deliver in terms of taste, satisfaction and even have the free-cone-day concept which I am sure makes a lot of people skip with joy, myself included!
The free-cone-day concept is no bluff, as they do not limit the flavours to simple, less popular ones that perhaps are harder to sell thus can be given out for free. In fact, they still bring out the popular and lovely flavours such as chocolate fudge to make all the queueing worth your while. Despite the long wait, it is worth it as they certainly do not “cheat your feelings” as some people might say.
The pricing is rather standard in comparison to other ice cream shops. Definitely, it is still better to eat this in moderation in order to enjoy it especially with a rare cup every now and then.
Sometimes Golden Village has movie combos that include a mini tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and this is where I had my first taste of Cherry Garcia, which made me an instant convert. The cherry taste did not taste artificial, and the effect was a fresh spoon of satisfaction with every bite.
Ben and Jerry’s will definitely remain near the top of my list for ice cream shops.

Ben & Jerry's give creative names for their flavours, and time to time, they would launch new ones. But there's nothing to fear because their ice cream still lives up to their name. Nothing I've ever tasted before from B&J's have been weird or disgusting.
My personal favourite is their chocolate fudge brownie, which is seriously too much goodness in a tub/cone. The bits of brownie in the ice cream are like little bits of heaven, further enriching the chocolate taste and texture. It is a must-try for all chocolate lovers, you will loveeee it.
However, other for a few flavours, I don't find their ice cream so good as to continually patronise them. Other ice cream shops are comparable and sometimes I really do find B&J's a little too overrated.
one of my favourite ice creams
Although not the best ice cream in my humble opinion (die-hard Magnum fan here), it is still among my top favourites! With so many flavours to choose from, one can never decide whether to get the chocolate fudge brownie or Strawberry cheesecake. I almost always end up getting both, anyway.
I love their ice cream because it is thick and creamy, especially those chunkier ones with nuts. Be sure to eat it fast though! It melts pretty fast given its thick texture. Another thing I love is that they are always coming up with new flavours. And the best part is they never disappoint.
Prices are rather expensive though, but hey, who’s complaining?
The most fascinating part of B&J's is how they randomly dunk all yummy goodies into an icecream. These goodies aren't artificial flavourings but tangible brownies, or chocolate bars, or cake bits! They also have an individual theme with creative names & packaging to suit the flavours, making it appetizing even before tasting it! My personal favorites are the strawberry cheesecake, chunky monkey, chocolate chip cookie dough. The outlets are well-designed making it look fun & cheerful. Even the staff are outgoing & bubbly. Some outlets even have a small performance area with drumsets & microphone!
Fun fact: a small percentage of the proceeds will go to a charity. individual flavours goes to a specific charitable organisation in the U.S. read the back of the packaging for supermarket B&J's!
best in a tub still
I rarely go to Ben & Jerry's stalls. Why bother going to the store to get $6 a cup ice cream when I can get two tubs of them at $22 when Cold Storage has an offer? Still, some of their other dishes make it really worthwhile.
First off, the dish that makes eating at Ben & Jerry's worth it - the Merlionster. Aptly named after the local icon, it presents itself as a five scoop beauty with toppings that puts Swensen's sundaes to shame. At $30, made to share with friends, it is perfect to try out a wide variety of flavours in this dish. What more with the toppings (I recommend chopped almonds and brownies), it can really lift your mood just by the sight of it. Also, their milkshakes. I'll admit, $9.50 for a milkshake is really not worth it, but the milkshakes here are made from their very own ice creams. The balance between flavour and texture is wonderful. Drinking milkshakes here rarely make me feel sick of the 'milky' taste.
Expensive, I'll admit. Take my advice though. Catch 4 other friends and get a Merlionster. Watch your own face change as you watch the staff prepare this baby and serve it up to you.
I would if I could....
Ben and Jerry's have the most diverse range of flavors ice creams in the world! I don't even think I need to promote how awesome their ice creams are. They also have creative names for their ice creams, like Chunky Monkey and Phish Food. (My favorite is Cookie Dough) You can also purchase them anywhere in Singapore (because they are sold in 7-11s LOL)! Their ice creams are rich in flavor and it is super soft and creamy. You'll just want to savor every mouth.
The only set back would be the price. I think it is a bit too pricy for me... For a small little cup, it costs about $6. So sadly, even though I LOVE BEN & JERRY'S, I only choose to have it once or twice a year. (Which is a good thing too, because it's deliciousness would make me eat it non-stop!)
Ben and Jerry sells one of the cheapest and good quality ice-cream, which is the reason why I have become a frequent customer for Ben and Jerry! The flavours that they offer are also wide range and variety.
I am a chocolate lover and I basically try almost all their flavours related to chocolate. I find flavours like 'Chocolate Therapy'', 'Chocolate Fudge Brownie' and 'Cookies and Cream' the nicest flavours of all. You should try them if you got a chance to visit this store.
The best part about their service is that they provide you will samples to choose your desired flavour before purchasing. So this can ensure maximum satisfaction from customers with their desired flavours!
There will also be special offers for people who had purchased a pair of cathay movie tickets at The Cathay. With this, people with a pair of movie tickets can purchase their ice-cream a lower price, which is quite a good deal.
Furthermore, one should change the normal cone to the bigger waffle cone, which tastes nicer and bigger at only $1.50. It is definitely worth it because the bigger cone can contain more ice-cream too!
Creamy and delicious
This is the best place for - good satisfying ice-cream treat if you're looking for one. If you are one who gets bored of the same old' flavors at Haagen Dazs, then do head down to B&J's instead! I love the design of the whole place and the vibrant hues of colors used to decorate the place just makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. The cow mascot can be often found in the shop as well! Now onto the flavours, they serve B&J exclusive ice cream that you cannot find anywhere else. Flavors such as New York Fudge, Chunky Monkey are trademarks of B&J.
They have sorbets available if you are looking for something less heavy and light. The regular ice cream is very creamy and sweet thus some might feel that it's too heavy for their tastes. If you want something to go along with your dessert, do opt for the fresh waffle to go with your ice cream. Waffles are made on the spot and although it's not as fluffy as I would wish for it to be, it is of am acceptable standard. Like many ice cream shops, B&J also offers complimentary plain iced water for you to refresh your taste buds during or after the ice-cream. Pricing is a tad expensive at 3 scoops for $10+ but it is well worth the price! They also have take home pints available at all major supermarkets if you are looking to have some yummy B&J on the couch while watching your favorite movie. Oh, and another thing, ice cream never fails, especially creamy and rich ones. :)
Sweet, but nevertheless delicious!
Most people will know Ben & Jerry because of its free cone day, where you can get a free ice cream of choice with cone each time you queue. I have been to the past 4 or 5 free cone days and tried many flavours of their ice cream. The staffs are always friendly, and the service is good.
Clusterfluff: If you are a peanut butter lover this would be for you. The ice cream is rich in peanut butter and some marshmallow (which I did not know actually exist, the taste of the peanut butter probably covered it all up). It is definitely a must-try if you love PB, but take note it is very heaty and has high calories.
New York Super Fudge Chunk: The appealing thing about this ice cream would be that it contains chunks of white and dark chocolate bar, as well as nuts coated with fudge! A must-try if you just love chocolate!
Phish food: Fish-shaped chocolate, and a decent amount of marshmallows inside. A must-try if you love marshmallow and chocolate.
Chocolate chip cookie dough: The “cookies and cream” of B&J. As the name suggests, it is filled with vanilla ice cream and chocolate chip cookie dough, which hints of the taste of soft oreo cookies.
Generally, the ice cream are all more inclined towards the sweeter side, but for an occasional indulgence, leave the calories out of this and go for it!
(Tips: If you wish not to spend the money, keep a lookout for Free Cone Day!)
Sweet and creamy, just YUMMY!
Ben and Jerry’s is my all time favourite ice cream parlour. I like the wide range of unique and sweet flavours that cannot be found elsewhere such as a cookie affair, chocolate chip cookie dough and new york super fudge. I like that there is a little more to the ice cream like the cookies, chips, caramel chunks, peanut butter chunks and more. There is a surprise element to every mouthful of sweet and creamy ice cream.
My favourites are the strawberry cheesecake and the triple caramel chunk. Both are very sweet and are unique flavours. The strawberry cheesecake is really like eating the real thing except this is creamy and sweeter. The triple caramel chunk is only for the very sweet tooth people as the name states, it is caramel based ice cream, with caramel swirls, with caramel fudge. I also like the cookie affair even though I am not a huge fan of chocolate. Almost all the flavours are yummy!
I also like that the atmosphere and ambience for all the outlets are cute and fun, perfect for kids with families, or friends. The price might be a little steep but it is definitely worth every mouthful.
Good Old American Ice-cream
This is the to go place for some good old lip-smacking American ice-cream. With it's wacky ice-cream which is both creative yet retains the traditional flavour, Ben & Jerry's is a hit with the young and the young at heart.
Some timeless B&J's classics include the strawberry cheesecake, clusterfluff and chocolate chip cookie dough (just to name a few).
The chocolate chip cookie dough is an absolute favourite! the small round bits of slightly salted cookie dough balances out the sweetness of the ice cream which makes it a delightful treat. The parlor also has drinks such as Snapple available which is perfect for washing down the sweetness when you're done.
The ambience at the Cathay is particularly cosy. The comfy sofa seating available makes it a relaxing dining experience. However, tables could afford to be cleaner as many at times they were sticky and ice cream residues could be seen. Also, if you're lucky enough, you may catch a live band playing at The Cathay outlet which adds to relaxed, laid-back mood.
My favourite thing about Ben & Jerry's would be that whipped cream is free! A huge plus for me since I love whipped cream and it goes extremely well with their ice cream. Ben & Jerry's is not easy on the wallet though. With a starting price of about 6 for a small cup, it is not as value for money to dine in the boutique. Tubs of B&J are available at supermarkets at a much reasonable price. However, this makes a lovely sinful indulgence every now and then.
