Light and tasty lor mee
I've always been on the hunt for good Lor Mees in Singapore but I've never been able to find one that resonated with my taste buds... Until my ex-classmates (now close friends) introduced me to this Toa Payoh Lor Mee stall right behind my alma mater. How could I have missed it out!
I took my first spoonful of the gravy and I was sold. The gravy was gloriously thick, but deceptively light. It also complemented the other ingredients well. What I loved most were the crunchy balls of what resembled yam ball fritters - I usually save them for the last to have them soften slightly after soaking up the gravy. My friends and I can never unravel the secret ingredient(s) behind those crispy yam ball fritters lookalikes but we're more than happy to simply indulge in them. The pork strips also contained a good mix of lean meat and fat, and I was happy to find no traces of overpowering "porky" taste in them
All in all, the Lor Mee here makes an awesome breakfast option. One more reason to wake up early - this place closes by 2pm.
